Dies in Los Angeles o-- n Marshall Caldwell Locates Still-Wednes- day Busy Day By unexpectedly opening the door of a car belonging to E. L Kesler, and by having a keen "scent" Marshall Caldwell got a tip which resulted in locating a 100 gallon still and 12 gallons of "Are water" at the Kesler home, 5750 South 6th West, Wednesday. This a the old Jess S. Tripp place, and this Is th tMrd still to be located there during the past ten years. Pete Geneloa was also arrested Wednesday by Marshall Caldwell for possession this being the second time Genelos has been arrested In about 30 days. Genelos' case Is unique In the an nals of liquor cases In the cleverness with which his source of supply was concealed, as It had persistently escaped detection. But as In the case of all law violators, sooner or Inter some small detail or laxity of vigilance causes their undoing. Mr. over evey Inch Caldwell hart of the territory he traversed Wed nesday many times In trying to locate the cache, but a ladder left this time in the rear of Genelos' place, leading to an attic room aroused suspicion. The marshal climbed up and searched, but discovered nothing, and was leaving, when the end of a small hose, almost hidden under a hoard attracted his attention. Pulling on it the only resHnse was that it stretched. Getting an ax he tore up the roof, and to make long story short, the hose was found to connect w ith the upper end of t copper tank. A smaller hose was attached to the lower end of the tank, and this smaller hose ran down the lead vent pipe to the sink, and from there Into the waste pipe, up Into the sink, the hose being small enough to U colled snugly beneath the sink drain, allowing the waste water to drain out around It. When a customer wanted a "lolile' or a "gallon" as the ease might J e, the proprietor had only to remove the screen, pull out the hose, lake the cap off and presto! the customer was served In a wink, and the hose replaced with no trace left behind. What possibilities, If such cleverness were turned to some more worthy purpose. T Both case were turned over to the federal authorities.
