Advance publicity labeling Phyllis Diller as "Halloween's Answer to Santa Claus" was an accurate description of the screwball. Those who saw her opening performance Monday evening at Valley Music Hall agreed she is "the goofiest female the Good Lord ever made." The kept the packed house roaring during her part of the r performance, and was surprisingly sane at a press party following the perform-anc- e. Attending were 12 graduates and seven of their partners: Eddie and Ramona Tomsik of Panaca, Nev.; Martin and Sharon Merryweather of Provo; Ann Jimmy and Margaret (Turner) Williams of Minersville; Gale and Gwen Anderson of Salt Lake; Mack and en Iola (Young) Whittaker, route to Johnson City, Tenn.; Miss Georgia Beth Smith. Hats and horns and hilarity will be features. The Osmond Brothers, appearing with Miss Diller, garnered as much applause as she did laughs, and Utahns loved the new innovations of their act, which included rock and roll, "modern teen" singing by electric guitars, and some commendable dance routines with all seven of the brothers participating. Valley Music Hall, a "theatre in the round," is unique in that there isn't a "bad" seat in the house the $3.30 seats afford just as good viewing, and the barrage of microphones just as good listening, as the $5.50 seats. . Gwen Pryor Helen Gillins Barbara Grcgson Disabled veterans of Utah, and widows of disabled veterans, will soon be receiving certificetes of eligibility from, state sources, entitling them to exemption from certain personal and real property taxes. These certificates must be mailed to or filed with the Beaver County auditor on or before May 1, according to Howard Pryor. county commission chairman. "Last year there were eligible veterans who failed to file the exemption certificates," Mr. Pryor said, "and when they applied for tax relief in November, the application had to be denied.
