During a recent Operational Readiness Inspection at sister Air Force Materiel Command base, "dumpster diving" was a technique used by inspectors to test the disposition of critical and sensitive information. Critical and sensitive information should be safeguarded and destroyed accordingly, usually by shredding. The information should not be inside your personal receptacles or dumpsters without first being destroyed in a way that prevents anyone from gaining access to the information. OPSEC seeks to control information and observable actions about your capabilities and intentions to keep them from being used by your adversary. This includes sensitive but unclassified information. Each unit or organization has a list of critical information in conjunction with the base critical information list. Each unit OPSEC program manager is responsible for ensuring all members of their unit know what their critical information is and ways to protect it. Let's not fall prey to dumpster divers or anyone else trying to gain sensitive information. a is ft t f - X&K. mr-- t ..... 83 High 60 Low 1 Mostly sunny m - ' S.
