Ogden is the first air logistics center within AFMC to adopt the new structure, which will change office symbols and organization names but not affect personnel, according to its commander. "This transformation and Maintenance Directorate plarrtowK been in the works for a while and I wanted to be the first to inform you of its inception," said Maj. Gen. Scott C. Bergren, Ogden Air Logistics Center commander. "No employees will lose their jobs during this realignment. Some will get a new office symbol, supervisor and work area while many other changes will be transparent to each employee." The new Maintenance Directorate MA is made up of five product divisions and six support divisions with approximately 7,000 employees. As part of the command's and the Air Force's broad transformation initiatives, the single maintenance directorate will focus solely on depot-levmaintenance and be considered essential to success of the ALCs in today's world. Command officials said the reorganization is expected to have little direct impact on ALC employees. The depot maintenance reorganization is an enabler to help the ALC provide better support to the war fighters and improve its financial performance," said Gen. Lester Lyles, AFMC commander. This reorganization is a fundamental part of a larger Depot Maintenance Reengineer-in- g and Transformation initiative, Lyles said. The organization will handle supply chain manand some agement program management operations. "What this will do is allow us to increase our focus on both the depot maintenance and the supply chain management arenas," said Don Cazel, LG director, "because we'll have individual organizations that are almost solely dedicated to those major processes. It will sharpen our focus there's not a doubt in my mind. I also firmly believe that this sharpened focus will translate into better customer support."
