The processing of a supplemental paycheck is a procedure and while it can be done, it is normally only done for hardship cases. Otherwise, the correction will be made on your next scheduled pay day. If this is a recurring problem, please discuss it with your time and attendance clerk and your supervisor. I am aware there is some confusion regarding the status of the new com pressed work schedule implementation. First, you need to understand the computer system Hill AFB uses. All industrially funded (DMIF) personnel are paid through the mechanized time and attendance system TASYS. This mechanized system requires several program changes before personnel can be properly paid under the new compressed work schedules. TASYS provides mechanical input into both the payroll system and the G037G Labor Exception System and eliminates hundreds of hours required to reconcile these two systems. TASYS system was programmed by the San Antonio Air Logistics Center under the direction of Headquarters Air Force Logistics Command. It was initially programmed to process a normal eight-hou- r work shift so it would properly interface with the G037G system. Since development of TASYS, most of the ALCs have been considering implementation of the 410 or 549 compressed work schedules. As a result, Headquarters AFLC has directed San Antonio to reprogram TASYS to accept these new work schedules. The reprogramming and testing efforts are scheduled to be completed in the next month or so. At that time, TASYS will be able to mechanically generate payroll actions for the 58, 549 and 410 work schedules. In addition, the G037G system will also be reprogrammed to accept these new work schedules from TASYS. In the meantime, the Financial Management Directorate has attempted to develop a feasible approach to implementing compressed work schedules for DMIF-pai- d personnel using workaround processes to enable DMIF personnel to go on compressed work schedules prior to reprogramming of TASYS. FM has carefully reviewed the automated time and attendance system in use at Warner Robins, but has found that this is a labor intensive system which does not mechanically interface with the G037G system. Please be aware that Warner Robins is also eagerly awaiting implementation of the newly designed TASYS system to reduce time and increase accuracy of information entering the G037G system. FM has reviewed other potential possibilities for earlier implementation of the compressed work schedules, but change of the weekly mainsingle tenance and supply cycles to the eliminated has any virtually cycle payroll system of these possibilities. I know this leaves many DMIF employees unhappy, and I can only ask for your understanding. I assure you I will push for the earliest possible implementation of compressed work schedules for all employees. If you have further questions, please contact David Kano, chief of civilian and military pay, Ext. 75839, and he will try to provide any additional information you may require. A h, I would like to compliment you on a fine young officer you have working for you at the Utah Test and Training Range. Several weeks ago, I and several others visited the range as bidders on a potential contract there. Although the commander was absent, the operations officer there, Capt. Gary Kuhlmann, was able to give us a very thorough, interesting briefing about the test range. He was very knowledgeable and professional and able to answer all the questions we had. Please pass my thanks on to Captain Kuhlmann for the good job he did. Thank you for passing along your compliments. I've commended the captain for the outstanding job. It gives me great pleasure to hear good things about the professionals who work for us at the Utah Test and Training Range. Again, thank you. I have a kudos for Dr. Joseph McFadden and A1C Stan Skylarsky at the optical clinic. They helped me out when I broke my glasses the day before I was to go TDY. I went in to get them to write out my prescription, but when they looked at my records they realized that my prescription was wrong. They ended up giving me a full exam and Skylarsky stayed an extra hour to get my prescription. I thought that was really neat and something kind of special that deserves recognition. I'd like them to know I appreciate the great service they gave me. Thanks a lot. Thank you for calling the Action Line. McFadden and Skylarsky, as well as the entire optometry staff, are very dedicated, g individuals. We are indeed fortunate to have people of their caliber on our hospital staff. Thank you for taking the time to recognize their efforts. hard-workin- ly is motorcycle parking policy? There is motorcycle parking right across fejf the street and to the east of our building, but we have very limited open parking on the west side where a gentleman parks his motorcycle every day. He says he doesn't have to park in motorcycle parking, that he can park anyplace he wants. This takes"away much needed vehicle parking. What is the policy on this? jf occurs when positions are abolished and employees are consequently separated, demoted or reassigneel to other positions. FPM supplement 351-- directs RIF procedures. Nov. 1, 1991 Longer hours needed ffef I realize they closed the truck gate during Desert Storm due to staffing, but now that all the security policemen are back, can't they keep that gate open later and on the weekends? It is really inconvenient for those of us who live outside that gate to go all the way around the base just to get on base. I would also like to know if it would be possi- ble to provide day care services for those of us who work swing shift during exercises. Even when it's a normal day, our shift is longer than the day care is available. Can't the child development center be opened on swing shift to help us out? A Thanks for your call. The security police have adjusted the operating hours of the Southwest Gate to include Saturday and Sunday operations as follows: Monday through Friday: 6 a.m.-- 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m.-- 6 p.m. rl Holidays: closed Please understand, these weekend hours are contingent upon security police staffing and the requirements levied upon them to protect operational resources. On occasion, they may have to close the gate for brief periods due to unexpected higher priority missions or when deployments temporarily reduce the size of our force here. Concerning your second question, the child development center currently offers extended care on Fridays, 6:15 to 1 a.m.; Saturdays, 5:30 p.m. to midnight; and on Sundays (for chapel services only). There has been little or no demand for a swing shift operation even during exercises. Keeping the center open for only a few children is cost prohibitive. If you would contact the center, they will supply you with a list of qualified home day care providers who could best serve your needs. Worker a picture of health In past years, employees who didn't use any sick leave during the year received a Picture of Health Award. I'm under different management now, but I didn't use any sick leave last year and I really would like to receive the award. Has this program been discontinued? Q The Picture of Health Award was a program in the Maintenance Directorate to recognize individuals who did not use any sick leave for a year or more. Last year when Maintenance became part of the Aircraft Directorate, the unit its internal functions and programs. One program it has decided to continue is the Picture of Health Award. The exact details and procedures that will be used to decide who receives the award have have not been fully worked out, but the directorate does plan to recognize workers who have conserved this valuable benefit during 1991. The Financial Management Directorate, where you are currently assigned, is considering looking at implementing the program too, but no decision has been made yet. Thanks for the call. |
