SCHOOL TEEN-AG- E WINNERS TO COMPETE IN 0; Preliminary plans to conduct Road the first annual Teen-Agdriving contest for teenagers, were made here yester-daby the Milford Teen Age Safety Council. The Road will be sponsored by The Milford News, under authorization from the U S Junior Chamber of Commerce, national sponsors of the Road Designed to create good driving habits among the teen-agset and to select the community's most skillful young driver, elimination will the Road-e-- o consist of a wnttt n examination and a skill test involving driving through prescribed exercises such as parking, smooth stopping, and others. The local winners, first, second and third place, will enter the state Road-e-competition to be held in Murray, May 8th. Good Friday. One of the bad features of these discussions on the upcoming special school election is the effect on the students. It seems they hear their parents discus.1 i.ig f schools, qualifica- tions of teachers, etc.. and the result is an unfavorable attitude on the children's part. This year the students' attitude toward their school work and their teac, hers has been steadily improving, but now they seem to be losing respect for instructors, and acquiring a "don't care" outlook toward school work generally. It is regrettable to lose this exemplary attitude of our chil-- ! dren. The solution is, no matter what you think of schools or teachers, don't let your children hear you say anything uncomplimentary. It will only do them harm, and tend to defeat the work being done by our educators. Got quite a kick out of the message we received from Beaver: We're being "used" by an "Milford pressure and have already lost group," 60 subscribers because of our attitude on the coming school election; also that we had to rush up to Salt Lake to forestall a suit of some kind against us. We haven't been to Salt Lake in six or eight months; we did go to Ely to bid on printing a highway promotion brochure. Our opinions are our own, and although we believe there are a good many other Milford folk who share them, we have never yet yielded to anyone's pressure group. Instead of "losing 60 subscribers," we've had four new ones in the past 10 days. anti-scho- ol W. P.
