Let us look at it this way: I am Chinese. Yet, I think that most of us in the great United States of America have pretty much recognized that this does not make me superior or inferior to the rest of our happy little population. Sure, while I grew up here my friends would say that our eyes are small and we could make computers out of toasters and we are completely in love with math and engineering and all of our ancient Chinese secrets, but all of the above statements are usually followed by Universal Pictures' new film Meet the Parents to be released October 6th. In his response to a recent story, Burnett compared gay and lesbian issues to race and culture issues, saying that if the Lesbian md Gay Resource Center were allowed, "we will see resource centers go up for every race and culture represented in the university." However, I think that though Inc just wanted to beg that someg body do something about the crisis that currently plagues our lovely campus. I think everyone knows what I am talking about here: You walk into the bathroom, take care of business, and then, because you are a courteous and individual, you thoroughly wash your hands. The Lesbian and Gay Resource Center is needed more than is a Chinese Resource Center or a Mexican one or an African one or one for whatever ethnic group 'or culture you can think of. The anger and uneasiness which is displayed concerning this issue looks very similar to old ideas of racists. Nobody deserves to be treated that way, which is why we should have the Lesbian and Gay A. Ray Olpin University Union, right in the traffic, right in the faces of homosexuals and heterosexuals alike. All of us need to talk, to raise issues, to communicate and mostly hosto get over this narrow-minde- d tility that is tearing most of us apart from this small population of people. It will be a huge step forward, and finally some sign of good faith in the University of Utah's commitment to diversity. Some of us think we are right on certain issues, others think otherwise. The only truly wrong idea is locking up everything we don't agree with and throwing away the key. Such intolerance is a quality seen in every tyrant and villain in history.
