"In one way or another, we're all connected to each other. Whether it's a family member or a friend or someone you pass on the street, HIV will impact you sooner or later." The project involves people in the community, "gives out infor-- . mation at tables and provides moral support for students concerned about HIV. Granholm remembers one individual who knew she worked in the project. He asked her for help. "He was very worried about some of the things he'd done ... I directed him to city health. I went with him to get tested and to get the results. It turned out negative." The whole experience of being with the man when he was tested, Granholm says, reaffirmed her work to inform and support people concerned about HIV. John Paulk was a homosexual, male prostitute and female impersonator. But he says that when he found God, he finally found the acceptance that he was unable to find in homosexual relationships. He is now happily married and takes pride in being a "man, husband and Christian." Paulk's testimonial is one of many that Every Student's Choice offers' for students who want a way out of the homosexual lifestyle. When she makes presentations for classes, she breaks down the class into smaller groups so that students feel more comfortable talking to her. Sometimes they ask about diaphragms, the morning-afte- r pill, or whether one should get an HIV test with his Or her partner. Bumstead also finds ways to educate people about topics that are sensitive, but not necessarily sexual. At the U. Health Fair, for instance, she ran a table that focused on testicular and breast i til" BfiHj ix ! cancer. She taught students how to examine themselves for dan- gerous lumps. The table also had a fun side. Bumstead' had students play a Jeopardy-lik- e game with sexual health questions. She wrapped up information tidbits about sexual health, like "did you know that one in nine women will develop breast cancer," in lollipops. Her friends distributed them around the fair. "On the back, they (said), 'Come to the Project SHOW-Mtable'," she says. "It was fun, and people were interested." U. students have a wealth of clubs and organizations available to support them, answer their questions about sex and empower them to make their own sexu- E al choices. tl'l.
