Ute sophomore star Lisa Ripken recorded a third place finish in the 1650 free with a time of 17:21.24. She flirted with victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.73 in the 200 free, only two seconds off the pace. Freshman Annika Lundmark registered the Utes' highest finish, placing second in die 200 back widi a time of 2:10.59. Still, she was about 10 seconds off the winning time, with Denali Knapp first-plac- e of UC Davis registering a surrealistic time of 2:00.17. Lundmark also added a third place finish in die 200 fly with a time of 2:13.51. Men's Update The U. men had to do without the services of WAC Swimmer of the Year Magnus Ronnewall, who underwent surgery for collarbone inflammation on December 4th. He is expected back for die Utcs' meet against New Mexico 011 January 19di. Utah still managed some solid finishes despite RonncwalTs absence. Junior Magnus Aronsson was victorious in die 200 fly (1:52.81) and was edged out in the in the 400 IM (4:01.44) by Petr KratochvilofUNLV. Cory Sinclair won the 200 back (1 :52.50) and was barely beat in the 100 fly (51.13) by Mike Mintenko of UNLV (50.65). Captain Brian Kcegan had the Utes' most exciting finish. Coming down die home stretch, Kcegan and Tyler Lague were dead even, and touched almost simultaneously.
