Majerus was particularly pleased with the defensive effort of his team, who held UTEP to 17 points below their average. "I thought we played as good a defense as we could play," Majerus said. "It was a hell of an effort. ..This was one of Block's best defensive efforts...Jimmy Carroll played a very good defensive game. He's starting to play the way he has to play in order to play at Utah." Van Horn led the Utes with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Majerus noted that the freshman is also getting better on the defensive end with each 24-2- "( ( "O game.
