Show Arts Wilcox has has been a lifetime , pursuit for Wilcox. According to Valley Center Producer Jody Renstrom, LeRoy gained his love for the character while serving in Europe during World War II. When he was stationed in England, the lonely soldier wandered through a bookstore and found a copy of Dickens' Christmas classic. He loved the book. He memorized the lines and offered to give a reading to the servicemen. His reading was well received, and he became in demand to portray the story all over England. Entertainment retirement Following from the Air Force he brought his the book to Provo. The Renstroms became acquainted with Wilcox when his daughter married someone in their ward. She told the Renstroms about her father and he auditioned for the play. That was in 1976. The Valley Center Theater has staged the Christmas Carol in various years. Following a recess for a few years, Wilcox approached the Renstrom's and said he would like to perform as Scrooge one more time before he died. Keith Renstrom told him he could as long as he promised not to die while performing. That was four years ago. Leroy is now 90 years old and can be seen again on Dec. 16, 17 and 18 performing as Scrooge. You can warm your heart on a cold winter night and discover the old Christmas spirit in Charles Dickens' era still fits our time today. Wilcox's portrayal of this n character is powerful. It is fascinating to watch Scrooge as his life is portrayed before his eyes. He saw everyone who was prominent during his growing up years. The whole cast is great and are wearing the costumes of the day. The love of Christmas comes with a renewed Scrooge on Christmas Day. The play warms the heart and adds a wonderful dimension to the Christmas season. Other cast members include James Glenn as Bob Cratchit, Kathlynn Knight as his wife, Dylan Glenn as Tiny Tim and Kedric Glenn, Erica Glenn or Emily Fielding, and Nicole Jarman as other family members.
