Permits for the Northern, Central and Northeastern regions are still available and may be purchased from 265 license agents statewide or at of Wildlife all Division Resources offices.' It took only 10 days for Southeastern Region resident permit sales to close this year, almost nine weeks faster than last year. . i Ciriijrl j' Jensen, . Pyblic , Services Section chief for the said the quick Division, Southeastern Region permit sellout is probably a result of efforts to prevent Southern Region permits from overselling this year. Jensen estimates that about 8,000 hunters who hunted in the Southern Region last year didn't obtain a voucher and many of these hunters decided to hunt in the nearby Southeastern Region this year. Hunters are reminded that when projected permit sales closing dates for the Northern, Central and Northeastern regions are determined, they will not be announced this year. The Utah Wildlife Board decided n"ot to have these dates announced, to help prevent a last minute rush by sportsmen to buy permits before the closure dates. This last minute rush contributed to most of the Division's regions overselling last year, Jensen said. For more information about purchasing Utah resident buck deer hunting permits call the nearest Utah license agent or Division office, or the Division's Salt Lake City office at (801) 538-470- 0.
