They beat Rowland Hall in a home night game April 28, and cruised at North Sanpete on the 30th. The Pioneer offense did the damage in the first half of the game against Rowland Hall. At minute 33, Rob Henrie trapped a cross from Jake Hafen, took a single step, then shot a rocket past the keeper. Just two minutes later, Nick Adams took a free kick just outside the penalty box. It went wide, but Lex Grimley saved it from going out of bounds and passed it back to Trent Smith, who converted the score. Although they didn't score again, the Pioneers played a fierce defensive game in pouring rain to secure the victory. Coach Mike Corbett wasn't too pleased with his team's efforts on Friday, but North Sanpete was overmatched and really never in the game. Their only score came late against Lehi's subs. The Pioneers got it going early, and all four of their goals were a result of their trademark team play. Jake Hafen got the first one at minute 15 when he finished off a Rob Henrie shot that had rebounded off the keeper. The teams battled even for some time after the start of the second half, but Justin Libberton stole the ball in the backfield and sent a huge arcing kick over the defense. Hafen chased it down and scored at minute 59. Just three minutes after, Lex Grimley sent a beautiful through pass to Smith, who beat two defenders and the keeper to post Lehi's final goal. 2-- The Pioneers finish with a Park City region record of and ended up first at 10-Wasatch was 3 with one game remaining. Even if they win it, however, Lehi owns the tiebreaker by goal differential. The Pioneers will host a d game Friday at 4 p.m. against Region 7's number five seed, still to be determined. If they win, they will play again Monday. If their opponent is the number two seed from Region 7, as is likely, the site of the game will be determined by a coin toss. The semifinals and finals will be played Thursday and Friday next week at Dixie College in St. George. "We have a real good shot at it," said Corbett. "We drew a favorable bracket and we're playing very well right now."
