Contest entries are available from public school art teachers statewide or by calling (801) To be entered in the contest entries must be postmarked by no later than March 538-472- 0. 15, 1999. The Federal Junior Duck Stamp program was initiated in 1994 to increase knowledge about the Federal Duck Stamp as a conservation program, and to teach the importance of wetland conservation. It provides youth, from kindergarten through high school, an opportunity to participate in activities that raise awareness of our nation's wildlife resources. Students from all 50 states and the District of Columbia compete annually in the contest. Local school entries are forwarded to state contests, where first, second, and third prizes are awarded to the student artists by panels of judges made up of artists and waterfowl experts. A best of show winner is selected at the state level, to compete nationally. The art- - work selected as the winner of the national show becomes the design for the following year's Junior Duck Stamp, with the artist receiving a $2,500 scholarship. Like their predecessors, Junior Duck Stamps are sold throughout, the country to collectors and enthusiasts of fine art. Proceeds from the sale of the stamps support conservation education awards and scholarships to contest participants. As in years past, the Division of Wildlife Resources, through its Project WILD entries generated among Utah's students. Since 1934, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, also known as the Duck Stamp Act, Americans have lined up for the opportunity to collect these works of art published as Federal Duck Stamps. For more than 60 years, the money generated from Duck Stamp sales has been used to buy or lease wetlands for the National Wildlife Refuge System, resulting in the preservation of millions of acres of waterfowl habitat in the United States. For more information about the contest or program contact Fred Hayes office, is proud to be a local sponsor of the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Working in cooperation with Utah's teachers and the Ogden Nature Center, the Division will act as the state receiving site for Division Project WILD nator, at (801) StUTT SaCK Fitted Hood - Chest Baffle Am.
