Show Area youth to solo with symphony Two young musicians from Highland and Alpine are among seven selected to perform solos with the Utah Valley Symphony Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 5 and 6, in the annual Young Artists Concert. Violist James Rhodes and pianist Gregory Brown will perform in the concert which begins at 7:30 each evening in the Provo Tabernacle, 100 S. University Ave. Tickets are $5 ($4 for students and senior citizens) at the door. son of Gregory, the Keith and Lisa Brown of Alpine, will perform the vivace movement from Rachmaninoffs "Piano Concerto No. 1 in F Sharp Minor" at the end of the program. He is a student of Irene Peery. the 1996 state and Southwestern states region winner in the Music Teachers National Associates Junior High School Piano He was Competition. He has also placed first in the last two SummerArts competitions, first at the Utah State Fair, and first in the Colorado Jefferson Symphony auditions. Gregory has soloed with the Utah Symphony in the Salute to Youth series and will perform with it again this spring.
