Show Fees to be charged in forest Free Press - Wednesday, June 5, 1996 - Page 12 POBtS Outdoors Correspondent Longhorns qualify for state high school rodeo June To help pay for operation and maintenance costs of heavily used areas in the Uinta National Forest, a $2 fee is currently being charged for parking at Cascade Springs and Tibbie Fork Reservoir. Collected money will help pay for litter cleanup, toilet pumping, potable water, clean tables, and periodic repair work. These additional fees are anticipated to provide necessary alternative funding, required to supplement the Forest Service's ever decreasing budgets. For those who frequently visit these and other day use areas, work is currently underway to provide season passes, which should be available within the next few weeks. These tolls and day use picnic area fees may be replaced next year by a canyon access fee, should proposed changes, discussed at rn 12-1- 5 The Lehi Longhorn Rodeo team participated in several rodeos during the past few weeks in preparation for state. Results from these rodeos are given as follows: Emery Erin Dickson won the cow cutting event, while Jessica Busk took third in pole bending and fourth in barrels. Zeke Steele placed sixth in bull ruling and Jessica Buckwalter finished eighth in goat tying Carbon In bullriding, Tyson Allen finished second, followed by Zeke Steele in third. Erin Dickson placed fourth in pole bending, fifth in cow cutting and eighth in barrels. Amanda Buckwalter finished fifth in goat tying, and Jessica Busk placed sixth in pole bending and tenth in barrels. Tyler Skidmore took ninth in teer wrestling and Josh Younger finisher tenth in the bareback event. Bear River Rett Sage won the bull riding event; other boys events saw Brad Morris finish fifth in team roping and Duke Freeland finish eleventh in calf roping. In the girls events, Amanda Buckwalter finished third in goat tying and Erin Dickson won third in cowcutting, as well as sixth in pole bending. Jessica Busk placed sixth in breakaway, while Jessica Buckwalter placed fourth in goat tying and eleventh in breakaway. Tandy Ault also finished twelfth in pole bending. Juab Erin Dickson won the girls and finished second in pole bending and third in cowcutting. Lyndsey Fox won the barrel event, while Amanda Buckwalter placed third in goat tying. Other girls who placed included Katie Beal in sixth place in breakaway, Skye Anderson in seventh in pole banding and Jessica Busk in tenth place in breakaway. Courtland Nelson, director of the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation, reports that day use fees will be waived at all of Utah's 45 state parks to thank regular visitors for their patronage and support. He also said that it's purpose is to encourage "those who may have never visited a state park, to come and see what they're missing." For those people wishing to remain at the parks overnight, regular overnight camping fees will still be charged. Regular golf fees will also be charged for those golfing at one of the division s golf courses. As part of National Fishing Week, Free Fishing Day has been created to give everyone an opportunity to try fishing without having to commit to any major expenses. licence will be required to fish June 8 at any ater managed by the Division of Wildlife Resources, but anglers will be required to follow all regulations in the 1996 Utah Fishing Proclamation.
