Show Citizen, Free Press, Review - Wednesday, September 20, 1995 - Page 14 Carol Ann Durfey to head volunteers Carol Ann Durfey has been appointed as the new director of volunteers at the American Fork LaRae Hospital, replacing Greenwood, who recently retired. Durfey is a familiar face around the hospital, hcvipg served in several positions, including her most recent as an administrative secretary. She will still keep some of her secretarial support responsibilities for finance, said Craig Smedley, hospital administrator. "We're excited to see Carol Ann broaden her responsibilities," Smedley said. "Carol Ann has a rich history of experience with American Fork Hospital, 11 years service. She has worked in the Emergency Room, Business Office, Environmental Service, Engineering, and Administration." Her community service is rich as well. She has served as the local community chair for the March of Dimes, Heart fund, and Pennies by the Inch. She also led the Intermountain Health Care employee drife for the United Way, and has served as a Parent-TeachAssociation president. She lists her interests as family and church and in her spare time she enjoys art, flower arranging, reading, sewing and "finding ways to make it through each day." She is excited about her new responsibilities and says she is looking forward to "new challenges and experiences while still being able to continue to enhance and use some of the skills that I used while working in administration." "As our area grows, the need for dedicated volunteers will become -f - a h er v ,, -- Jap. .' k . ft increasingly important to our hospital. The service the volunteers so generously give is a very vital part of American Fork's Hospital's commitment to quality care." Durfey says she is impressed with the depth of knowledge, experience and kindness that the volunteers in the hospital possess. "We certainly have the creamof the crop. They not only willingly give of their time but more importantly, i they give of themselves. The volunteers, she said, "definitely improve the quality of life in the hospital for both the employees and the patients." She has lived in American Fork all her life and "loves it." She and her husband, Evan, are the parents of eight children. ; IL W I Carol Ann Durfey i nw,4i n Youth Theatre to hold second season trations will be accepted until Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the Pleasant Grove city offices, 70 S. 100 East.
