Cook will celebrate her 80th birthday at an open house on Saturday, June 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the American Fork Senior Citizen Center, 59 W. Main Street. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Blanche was born June 27, 1915 in Monroe, Utah to Stephen and Sarah Pope. Before she was a year old her family moved to Arco, Idaho, where she spent her growing up and school years. Blanche married William Elwood Cook of Cedar Fort on Sept. 23, 1933 in Arco, Idaho. He died Oct. Oct. 21, 1975. She retired from Tooele Army Depot in 1980 and has since been doing volunteer work at American Fork Hospital. Blanche is the mother of two children: Elwood Wayne (deceased); and Lelah (Mrs. Bill) Howell, Sandy. She has two grandchildren and five n. Registration is now underway for the summer reading program at the Lehi Public Library. Children three years and older are invited to participate in one of two programs that feature stories, - ff)r Blanche P. Cook pre-regist- er te ' 7150. te iL.J LJ crafts and other activities. For children three and older, up to those in kindergarten through second grade, "Caboose Crafts" is a activity time on Mondays, with three sessions offered, starting at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. "Railroad Tie" storytime will be held on Wednesdays during the same three sessions. Parents are asked to attend with their chil- train pinata, if time permits. Other special activities will include counting contests and a storytelling festival. There is no fee for the programs, and children will receive a book if they complete five gameboards during the summer.
