At one point in the season the Pioneers were one step higher, but dropped for no reason to the fifth spot. After last Tuesday, the Pioneer should move closer to the top position after an eight point win over the Springville Red Devils. The Pioneers jumped out to an early three point lead in the first quarter and increased it to six points by the end of the half. In the third period, the Red Devils turned on the pressure and tied the game before the final quarter. Nine pressure free throws came through for the Lehi team in the fourth quarter to bring the LHS record to with a final score of Bart Brockbank and Cole Cooper shared the top of the scoring column with 17 points a piece. Brockbank also acquired four assists and steals and Cooper claimed six assists and five steals. Matt Ekins also turned in high numbers with 13 points, five assists and seven rebounds. Jon Bailey totalled 10 points with six rebounds and six blocked shots. Ryan Turpin compiled seven points while Paul Ellsworth added three and Richard Peterson chipped in a field pre-seaso- n 8-- 3 Sophomore action In the sophomore game, the Lehi team could ' 't muster the points to defeat ' ae Springville sophs. The first quarter ended pretty even at 10-- for the Red Devils, but as the game proceeded, the Red Devils lead increased and finally ending at Justin Larsen led the scoring with nine points while Allan added seven, Mike Gray contributed six and Chad Yates nailed five. With this game being the region opener and an intense game to start with it makes for an exciting evening of high school basketball. He is the son of Rusa&ll and Rita Felt of Lehi. Pioneer Profile 2-- 4, tip-o- Chris is a member of the Student Council where he serves as of the Spirit Squad. He is a member of the wrestling and football teams and has lettered in both sports the past two years. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and maintains a 3.930 grade point average. ff An active member of the 13th Ward, Chris has received his Eagle Scout and Duty to God awards. When he's not busy with school activities, Chris enjoys sports, being with his friends, reading, music, hunting and fishing. Chris' philosophy of life is shown through his actions and attitudes toward life instead of through words. Those who know him, know that he is a living example of his standards and beliefs. The Pioneers produced an average night from the free throw line as they missed six of 26 shots. Cooper again had a perfect night from the line with six charity points. Brockbank made five of seven and Ekins and Ellsworth nailed three of four. From the field, the Pioneers shot an average 55 percent. Turpin was flawless from outside as he tossed in three of three. Bailey also had a good night with an 80 percent turnout, and Ekins nailed five of seven shots for 71 percent. The varsity record in now 3 with two losses to the third ranked team, and the other to a class 4A team. Region is right around the corner for the Pioneers. The young Pioneers stayed with the Devils until the final period when the Springville team produced a 19 point quarter, outscoring the Lehi team by nine and ending the scoring at 57-4- 8.
