The games begin at 6 p.m. and there are four game per night Tickets are $2 for adults, $1 for high school and junior high students and 50 cents for children. A family pass for the week can be purchased for $20. Bald might not be beautiful, but it doesn't make any difference on the basketball court, as proven by the classic Team of '58 that were defeated by a bunch of pros from the Class of '66. Both teams were huffing and puffing by the end of the first quarter, and the Boys of '58 were determinedly fighting back the offensive threats of the Class of '66. The Class of '74 pulled out a victory over the Class of '72 who put up a game fight before conceding the victory to the younger men. '79's A team defeated the '77 boys, and the upstarts of '89 took the game from the '84 team. There were few heroes in the evening's actions. All players were heroes just for playing in the tour- 2-- ck walked six. Two runs scored in the fourth and one in the fifth. Jacobsen struck out one, had three ground out to the infield and two fly out to the outfield. Offensively Jacobsen went 2 for 3 with one walk. He scored the first of four Pioneer runs in the fifth frame when ten batters went to the plate. Five bases on balls and two J five-innin- singles spelled doom for the Spartans in that inning. Mike and Scott Peck each acin counted for two the contest. Peck went 1 for 3 with a walk, and Degelbeck was 1 for 2 and a walk. As a team, the Pioneers had 6 hits for 24 at bats for a skimpy .250 average. They received 9 walks and 8 Lehi men struck out. Coach Lynn Allan starts only five seniors, and has juniors John Tachiki, Kurt Gray and Calton, with sophomores Mike Perkins at first, and Chad (Jake) Smith behind the plate. They are scheduled to play at North Sanpete Wednesday, March 29, on their way to the Mesquite tournament planned Thursday through Saturday. Next week Provo is set to enter the Pioneer camp on Tuesday April 4 for a 3:30 contest. A sophomore game at Provo is scheduled the same day at 4 p.m. three innings. The left hander struck out five and court-happ- y nament. And some of them had traveled quite a distance to participate. Bill Mercer (Team of '58) came from his home in Men an, Idaho, to put his to the test. athletic The alums had to put up or shut up in this tournament, as many of them had sons watching from the sidelines. The sons were shaking their heads as their dads showed them how basketball was played in "the good old days." Don't miss the action as the tourney continues through the rest of the week. Pioneers defeat Emery Spartans Junior pitcher Robert Calton was credited with his first official win of the 1989 baseball season at Lehi High School last week as the Pioneers slipped past the Emery Spartans 4-- 3 in a seven inning contest at Lehi. Senior Jason Jacobsen came on in relief in the sixth frame to shut down the six Spartan batters he faced. Calton allowed five hits while throwing to 30 batters. He scattered the five singles throughout K Junior varsity baseballers at Lehi High School pounded their counterparts from Emery 8-- 5 in a g contest last Friday on the Pioneer field. Freshman pitcher Zane Gray held the Spartan J V to six hits over the five innings, gi vingup six walks and striking out six.
