' llipiiii Bill Phelps Mary Alice McCollum Bill Phelps to serve in Minn. Mary McCollum accepts call to Denver, Colo. Elder Bill Phelps, son of Kathryn and Bishop Richard Phelps, Lehi, Mary Colorado-Denve- has been called to serve in the Minnesota LDS Minneapolis, Mission. He will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Feb. 7, at 9 a.m. in the Lehi West Stake Center Chapel, 1920 N. 500 West. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Mrs. McCollum was converted to the LDS Church in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to Lehi in 1969. She has lived here most of the time since then. Her children are living in California, Colorado, Rhode Island, Michigan, and Dugway, Utah. She spoke in the Ninth Ward's sacrament meeting last Sunday. The volunteer auxiliary at is American Fork Hospital providing nursing scholarships for seniors from each of the three local high schools - American Fork, Lehi and Pleasant Grove. A qualified senior from each of these schools will be awarded a $300 scholarship towards a registered nursing degree from the college of hisher choice. These awards may be used in conjunction with any other scholarship. "We appreciate all the service rendered by high school students at American Fork Hospital," says LaRae Greenwood, director of the AFH volunteer auxiliary. "These scholarships are one way to show our gratitude to these students and to encourage them to pursue a rewarding career in nursing. "This is the first time the hospital has offered these scholarships, but with community support, we hope to make this an annual gift to the high school students." High school seniors interested in applying for the nursing scholarships can do so between now and lb. 1, 1988. Scholarship applications are available from high school counselors or from LaRae Greenwood at the hospital. Applicants will be judged on grade point average, community or hospital service, teacher references, a personal essay and an interview with the Director of Nursing, Director of Volunteers and the April American Fork Hospital.
