V L 1 i Family and friends arranged a surprise open house for Ruth Curtis at her home on Sept. 28 to celebrate her 75th birthday. Ruth was born in Lovell, Wyq., the second child of six, to Angus Cannon and Mary Whipple Gardner. She attended schools in Wyoming, Sandy and Lehi. She married Byam Curtis in 1933 in the St. George LDS Temple and they have one daughter, Connie. "By" passed away in 1965 of a heart attack which necessitated a new adjustment in her life. Ruth has never let misfortune affect her life and seems to have the ability to cope with any situation. She has a special talent of showing a warm interest in people. Ruth's daughter, Connie, is married to Marvin Christensen and they live in Richfield, where she mmiji. M,',u:iw?i Local lensman Alan Ferkovich was excited to win a blue and red ribbons at the Utah State Fair held last month in Salt Lake City. The two pictures were taken during a family trip up the west coast this past summer. The winning scene, entitled "Haystack Rock," took first place and second place went to "Sea Scape."Both pictures' were scenes of the Pacific Coast.
