Show Free Press - Wednesday, October 30, 1985 - Page 8 Halloween treats for little tricksters Halloween safety hints by KALYN SECRETAN Care Bears, Clowns, Cone Head, Dracula, Witches, Scarecrows and Pumpkins were among the characters to get an early start at a Halloween Party staged by the Third Ward Primary. Ghosts and goblins were greeted by a scary witch whb gave tickets to the m asqueraders as they arrived for Halloween fun. Ghosts and spiders adorned the walls as the spooks had a chance to roll pumpkins with their nose in a pumpkin race, win prizes at the fish pond, find treasures in sawdust and throw bean bags through a pumpkin eye, nose and mouth. Large cookies decorated with M&M's were given the. lucky winners on the cookie walk. Costume prize winners walked away with delicious caramel apples and everyone received caramel popcorn balls. This was the beginning of the Halloween season for many children. Halloween is a time for decorations, food and fun for everyone, children, teens and adults. More and more people dress up for work in public places and it is not considered a childrens holiday anymore. A big part of Halloween is trying to decide what to wear, hours are spent in decisions and designing just the right costumes as you take on a new identity for a day or placed on a tray with wax paper. Powdered sugar can be sprinkled on the wax paper to prevent sticking. Note: The above recipe can also be used for popcorn balls or caramels. Halloween will be celebrated in various ways at school, church, in the neighborhood and special parties. Orange and black are the colors used for the holiday season. Orange is a symbol of the golden harvest while black depicts demons and the dreary winter. The celebrations, costumes, and decorations will all come to an end as the neighborhood youngsters come knocking at the door on Halloween night. It is a lot of fun for the ghosts and goblins to gather treats around the neighborhood and head for home to spread out the valuable collection of I live in Pleasant Grove and shop locally because of the service and convenience.
