All the hoopla of a state tournament was evident before the Mustang game. Clad in . bright orange and white uniforms, the were given a rousing send-of- f by proud parents when they released a spectacular display of orange balloons just before the ump yelled "play ball." Impromptu cheerleaders led the anxious fans in hearty bronx cheers and it did a lot to give the lads the impetus needed to come from a 13 5 deficit and tie the game at ll in the sixth inning. Some great outfielding, sharp baseball infield play and heads-u- p was played by the whole Lehi squad before Viewmont pushed across the winning run. Viewmont had a 1 lead after the first inning even though Zane Gray, Jared Strain and Britt Clark all hit safely for Lehi. John Chamberlain singled in the second inning but Lehi was stymied by good Viewmont pitching. The local boys put the flashy Viewmont team down with some good hurling by Tony Holmstead and a good throw home by Todd Childs. Tahbo smacked a single in the third inning but again the visitors put out Lehi's attempt to catch up. About then the rains came, the wind blustered, the weather cooled off, but Lehi got hot and two runs scored to ante the score Viewmont pulled ahead 3 but in the top of the fifth, Tahbo hit a clean single. Strain walked, Lindquist walked when McDaniel stepped up to the Opiate and slammed the ball to deep left field and two more runs crossed the plate for Lehi. Viewmont retaliated by upping the score to 13 in their half of the " inning. Never giving up, the Lehi crew came to life and with some good hitting, a little luck and poor Viewmont pitching, Lehi tied it up 5-- 3. 7-- All-Sta- mrr, 13-a- J it & t-:- '' 7 - 1 5-- - Al j" . .'5 v .. m ' N . , know how to swing the bat!
