This group of adult cloggers, directed by Mylinda Stiles, specializes in novelty clogging. Their costumes and unique ideas helped them gain a championship in the novelty division at the "Hee Haw" competition. They are regular performers at the major theme parks in Southern California. Some of their fun numbers include a clogging horse, muleskinners and a spoof about hillbillies. The "Happy Tracks" cloggers from Catawba, S.C., will be the first group from South Carolina to attend the Freedom. Festival. Jean Stevensen, inventor of the Happy Tracks Clogging Technic, is the director of this group. Stevensen, president of the American Clogging Association, has guided her team to several southeastern states clogging titles. Several hours were spent at the Golden Spike National Historic Site which is administered by the National Park Service. This site was authorized in July 1965 so it hasn't been developed as a visitors center for very long. The site contains 2,203 acres including 15 miles of the old railroad ertson. These talented dancers have won every major competition they entered during the past year, including the Grand Championship at .the first annual "Hee Haw International Clogging Championships" held at Qpryland last October. The National Cloggers' Festival is part of the America's Freedom Festival at Provo. This event, now in its 8th year, has grown into one of the most popular activities of the Freedom Festival, and has become the leading clogging festival in the country, according to Dennis Cobia, event chairman. "We have reached the enviable position of having to turn away really good teams," noted Cobia. The first season in 1973 opened with seven Hummel pieces and they have continued to be audience pleasers many years since, said David O. Brockbank, producing director. "Living pictures" will create both post card sketches and the W. Gobel figures marketed internationally as the "M.I. Hummels" in the new show. A total of 18 cards and figures will be staged, Brockbank said. The Utah Pageant of the Arts production will feature some 48 selections, including a wide variety of paintings, sculpture pieces, a postage stamp and a clock featuring four figures in the decoration. In addition to the pageant itself, a Seminar on all phases of the arts, a Professional and Youth Art Exhibit and the Pageant Guild auction art will be displayed in conjunction with the show. The Pageant opens on June 9 and runs through July 20, except Sundays and July 4. Admission to the Pageant is $7 or $9 and includes all other Pageant events in the American Fork High School building, 510 North 600 East. Utah Pageant of the Arts has become an arts classic, drawing audiences from many states and several foreign countries each year. .
