Lehi officers commended for lifesaving efforts A special commendation was presented to Officer Danny Curtis of the Lehi Police Force, and Ray Lehi's animal control Wilcox, officer, in a special ceremony at city council meeting Tuesday. The commendations were for lifesaving efforts and assistance rendered at an accident scene, and were presented by Mayor Garry Sampson on behalf of Chief Bill Gibbs and the Police Department. The citations to Curtis read as follows: "On Saturday, August 27, 1983, you responded to a double fatal where it intersects accident on Lehi's Main Street 'As far as I can determine you, were the first Law Enforcement Officer on the scene. You went to work immediately attempting to save the life of a youngster who had been injured. You also made an effort to bring order to the scene by directing the efforts of others who were there, until highway Patrol Officers arrived. When someone was needed injured, you volunteered so that our ambulance personnel could remain at the scene with another injured person who was still pinned in the wreckage. "Your efforts this day were recognized by members of the Utah our own Patrol, Highway ambulance personnel and others. As a result many complimentary things have been said about you and the Department. "I would also like to personally commend you for these efforts and feel that much of what you did was above and beyond what is normally expected of you in your day to day duties. Such efforts make you a credit to our organization and the City of Lehi. "Sincerely, William L. Gibbs."
