With McBee gone, Job has taken on coaching the Lakers himself. The resignations of McBee and Watson came at the end of a six-daroad campaign, which saw three Laker wins. The fued between the Miners and the plate umpire continued. While the feuding was going on, Laker pitcher Mark Bloomfield held Carbon scoreless in the inning. In the bottom of the inning, shortstop Wragg ignited a double play against American Fork. The Lakers quickly overcame that setback. 19-1- 21-6- Ogden's Boomer Van Steelant opened the blitz with a homer off Laker pitcher Joe Bocek inlhe bottom of the first. Even though McBee replaced Bocek at the mound, Ogden still had hot bats. The Flyers hammered out 24 hits in that game. Even though Carbon scored only three runs in the game, it got 10 hits off Laker pitcher Dwayne Elder, who chalked up five Miner strikeouts. American Fork's series against Carbon here ended on an embarrassing note Monday afternoon. The league scheduled had called for a double header that day. However, only one game could be held, Despite the drumming they got, the Miners managed to make two home runs, hit by Knox and Barry Temple. Right after Van Dyke's double, teammate Lee McDaniel singled a line shot to third base. Walker soon joined his two teammates on the diamond. With the bases loaded, Jack and Jill had a good shot at pulling ahead, but with two outs already, Jack and Jill's chance was suddenly snatched away by Parry when he struck out Steve Adams. In the bottom of the fourth, the Stinger scoring machine got moving. Skip Shippen turned the machine on with a single that drove in Jim Fowler. The Stinger scoring machine got turned off after Doug Birk doubled in Newman. Replacing Parry at the pitching plate during the top of the fifth, Fowler was as tough on Jack and Jill as his predecessor. He allowed only four hits. The first of those hits was Blaine Adams' infield single in the fifth. Immediately following that hit, Jack and Jill tripped over a Stinger left-fiel- d double play. Holding the Stingers scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, the boys on Jack and Jill put up a strong offensive in the sixth. The offensive peaked when Clyde Green tripled in two runs, that came home on a passed ball. Tagged flies ruined Jack and Jill's comeback.
