Show 10 ‘ EARL'S 'flMESv JULY 1994 A New Look dumpsters would only be for household should we encourage recycling to at Old Trash “wet" garbage. Other types of trash still would have to be taken to the Moab transfer station or the dump. This poses many questions, and YOUR input is vital to estimate the amount of trash we generate here in the valley. We need to get an idea of costs reduce the amount ofwaste by charging for each bag we deposit? We all generate garbage—more for In last month’s CV Times John Groo wrote about the closing of the Moab dump and its new site at Klondike Flats west of the airport. The cost for CV individuals to dump their household trash there or at the transfer station to be set up in Moab will undoubtedly prove much more expensive than organizing our own collection service. As a community we need to decide how we want to dispose of our trash. Due to the stringent regulations for landfills, our own CV dump is probably out of the question. Cisco dump is soon to be closed for the same reasons. A door-to—door pickup service would be prohibitively expensive. It seems our only real alternative is dumpsters, located locally and serviced by a hauler under contract to the town. These and know how you would like to see the system work. The site for the dumpsters is another big question. Do we want them on the town lot? Or should we try to purchase the 21-acre section of BLM land near the front gate for this purWherever the site, I would like to see the area fenced to stop trash from take care of the site? Thanks. ___________ __I German) good wishes to the couple ‘ from their boats lining the tight canal. The party then boarded a bus to an old English castle, where a delightful Dutch wedding cake and fine champagne were the main course. We were then directed to a restaurant in a building erected in 1756, where David and Bernice treated us to a lavish four-course meal. Skits, toasts, and slide shows kept us thoroughly amused between courses. By 1 am. we were dancing on the wooden floor to a 4-piece acoustic band. At this point I kept asking myself whether the party was over or just beginning! To my surprize, our Castle Valley was a major theme of the day, for this is the hot spot where the couple met and will live and grow old together. A major advantage for me was meeting the Dutch and making new friends who will always be welcome at my home in this unusual red-rocked country. A toast to David and Bernice for such a fine wedding day. I thank you, dear friends, for such an opportunity ' for growth. My best wishes go out to you. ——Jennifer Redding |
