Show Bicentennial Bookmobile to Visit Lehi The Utah State Bicentennial Bookmobile will be in the Lehi' area carrying rare and School from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p valua- ble books and documents dealing with our Country's Foun-dain- g Fathers in this great country they helped establish. It is free to the public and open to all ages who wish to see the displays. On December 14 the Bookmobile will be at the Lehi High It was decided that one way the Library could best participate in the celebration was through acquisition and exhibition of significant books and documents on the theme of Revolutuion and Independence. The existing holdings of Special Collections were evaluated, and it was determined JACKPOT .THE MYSTERY PERSONALITY may be anyone in this area. Clues to his or her identity will be hidden ONLY in the Ads of sponsoring merchants. This means any Ad of sponsoring merchants in this section or any Ad of the merchants elsewhere in the newspaper. Clues will be scattered, many Ads will have no clues, while others may have several. This is a contest of skill and we intend to do our best to outwit you. We will be delighted if you succeed in outfoxing us, in spite of our best efforts. If, by coincidence, the name of the MYSTERY PERSONALITY, or other facts about him happen to appear in news items, editorial matter, or other places in this newspaper, these will not count as clues to his identity. . To enter, write down the name of the person you think the Mystery Personality is. LIST ALL THE CLUES YOU CAN FIND in all the Ads of sponsoring merchants in this issue. Don't forget your own name and address! Then, drop your entry in the special box at the businessmen's stores whose Ad is under the arrow in this issue of the paper. You may enter at all the stores that have an Ad under the arrow, if you wish! The arrow will be above a dilferent group of merchants Ads each week. This week's contest starts when you receive this issue and closes on Monday of the following week. The first entry drawn from all the entries for the week, that correctly identifies the MYSTERY PERSONALITY in Lehi will win - $10.00 in Bonus Bucks. IF THAT SAME ENTRY also lists all the clues that were hidden to identify the MYSTERY PERSONALITY, example: if there were 12 clues hidden throughout the Ads to identify the MYSTERY PERSONALITY and this entrv had 12 clues wrinen on it, $20.00 more will . . . . With the acquisition of several other significant books and pamphlets, it occurred to the library staff that the exhibit should have wider exposure than would be possible if the books were displayed only in the University Library. The University and College Library Council was presented Rl be given to the person who had this winning entry. However, if he did not have 12 clues as his answer, having only found 10 or any other number but 12, this additional amount will be added to the coming week's prize making the next week's prize $50.00 and this amount will continue to grow each week by $20.00 until the entry drawn has both the correct identity of the MYSTERY PERSONALITY and the correct number or clues. The week that this happens, such an entry will win all the prize money (Bonus Bucks) that has accumulated. . . . The next week the prize will start again at $30.00. . . . A committee was formed with the State Librarian as chairman to coordinate the Bicentennial Bookmobile activities. This committee represented the University of Utah Library, Utah State Library Commission, The Utah Library Association, and the Utah State Board of Education. 127 East Main Greenwood's Carpet Warehouse NOVEMBER 24, travel to every corner of the state for viewing by all Utah with the idea of the exhibit traveling to their respective institutuions. The proposal met with a favorable response from the UCLC Board. The idea also came to the attention of the Director of the Utah State Library Commission, and his reaction was enthusiastic to make the exhibit available to all public libraries and secondary schools in the state. His commission seized upon the idea that the exhibit be placed in a bookmobile and HERE ARE THE EASY RULES ... ?300 century Dooks and pamphlets. Several rare book dealers were contacted to assit in the projet. and outside sources for funding were pursued. The Friends of the Library, under the guidance of the Acquisition Librarian and Special Collections Curator, gave generously for the purchase of a Federalist Papers (first edition), and a first printing of 1 A?f& fipft THIS WEEK'S that many books that should be in a library the size of the University of Utah were not here. So additional funds were sought to purchase the items essential to a good exhibit of the literature of the Revolution. For a period of two years, large percentages of the Special Collections acquisition budget were spent on first editions of significant eighteenth rary's representative. .m. and at the Lehi Public Library from 7 to 9 p.m. in the evening. In 1973 the University of Utah began to plan its participation in the American Bicentennial Celebration.
