We ate at a nice cafe there, had a real nice dinner, and watched for deer all the way home. When we puiled into the garage Ora said, "Tom, that was a nice hunt." And I said, "It sure was." Most hunters had a lot more adventure than that and perh-hap- s more shooting, but I'll bet they did not have more fun. A nip of frost has now sent the transparent leaves skittering and rustling earthward after putting on the most spectacular autumn color extravaganza I can remember. DEER RIFLE I saw Tom Power's in his scarlet togs today and realized that season is upon us again. It's rifle cleaning, grub box packing and thermal time for sure. Avid hunters are reliving last year's hunt and spinning yarns that somehow get better with age. Tom told me of his adventures last year. "Ora and I got in the car and decided to go out to West Canyon. We found a nice spot underneath a tree, settled down to wait for the deer. Ora said, "Tom, don't you think we should go out and walk a little and hunt the deer?" "No, Ora, if we just sit quiet here, the deer will find us." Hope you took a joyride this fall. It was even worth the gas. Our Indian summer has been fabulous, a plentiful harvest with an abundance of pears, peaches, apples, pumpkins and corn. Oh, I love the fall.
