Another boy : when asked about next years play, replied with an emphatic "yes, it makes me feel good." (Cory) According to Mr. Dubois, "one advantage to group participation such as this aids each boy in reducing the affective identification which he may feel for the delinquent subsystem, and in turn may tip the scales in the opposite direction." Only those people who have come in contact with those the Ranch's staff realize the concern and dedication they have for this work. One only has to look at the facts. The Ranch has accepted dro-ou- ts from foster homes and other schools. Behavioral and academic problems are often reasons for boys being at the Cedar Valley Boys Ranch. The staff in addition to administering the internal program dealing with the boys at the Ranch has also taken on another responsibility on several occasions; that of working with the parents and families of the boys. This is most often a vital part of the total treatment program. The Ranch is seen as a temporary place for boys who need help for perhaps only a brief time in their lives. The essential goal in working with these young people must be directed toward developing their maximum potential Through the positive acceptance and application of responsibility success is born. A boy returned home recently after tBing at the Ranch for one year. He wrote a letter to the Ranch as he was leaving. He felt the program had helped him "become abetterperson." From statements of simple courtesies to those which were personality and also to those meaningful which entailed some thought, he PICTURED WITH MR. Here is a new beginning for a young man who in his delinquent youth had been deceived, threatened, lectured, and exhorted all by a variety of people in a variety of settings. Now he is faced with the challenge of living what he has learned and becoming what he has experienced. fi''-- par-ent- v mm l -- 11 I mil prikp 1(1 VtlOlUC SCHOOL The ten boys are busy at school again this year, with the majority of boys Lehi High attending School A recent comment was made by Dean T.
