Our Region made a fine showing in the tourney and attested to the caliber ofwrestlingwe have here. Our congratulations go to all the kids and their fine coaches. This sport requires a serious dedication to training and no one but unlimited class eats all they want to during the season. We are especially proud of Lehi's squad for their accomplishments over the year and a special congratulation to Paul, Kevin and Gary for their fine showing at the State meet this year. The Royals will play the AmericanFork sec ond place team at 6:30 p.m. The Bulls will play the American Fork Fourth Place team at 8:00 p.m. The Lehi National Guard wish es to thank all wno nave helped make this a successful year for Bantam BasketbaU. Jeff Kunz The Lehi Pioneers displayed a burst of sheer fortitude and cunning play to defeat the PI. Grove Viking team and attain third place rating in Region Four. The playoff encounter took place on Saturday, Feb. 27 at PI. Grove. The teams were fairly evenly matched throughout with Lehi making nine points in the first quarter to Pleasant Grove's six. In the second, the Vikings seesawed to 24 against 17 for the Pioneers. In the third, Lehi again 2, forged ahead with going on to hold their two point lead for the finale 2. Brock for the Vikings, fouled out in the third quarter. Ron Peck for Lehi, also fouled out In the third. Gene Francom had foul trouble in the fourth quar 34-3- 44-4- The Payson Lions defeated the Lehi Pioneer quintette in the playoff game held last Thurs day, Feb. 25, on the Orem High School floor. This left Lehi scheduled to meet the PI. Grove Vikings on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Pleasant Grove. Final score in Thursday's game was 76 for Payson, against Lehi's hard won 59 points. By quarters, Lehi made nine points against 25 for the Lions in the first quarter; 29 to 42 in the second; 44 for Lehi, with Payson at 50 in the third, and the final calculation of 6. Gene Francom, center for Lehi, was high scorer with 21 points. This included seven field goals and seven out of nine possible foul shots. Making a close second rating was plucky Ron Ellison, guard, with four field goals and 12 out of 13 foul shots for a big 20 points. 59-7- Cameron Cooper, guard, Roseman, Lehi; 3. They will now enter the Region playoffs. Ricky Nelson hit for 16 and McStay for 10. Welch led the loosers with 17 points. The Royals won over the Suns 30 to 26 and will also enter in Region play. Vic Colledge was high for the winners with 12 points. Keven Russon added 10. Glenn Hinton had seven and Cooper had four for the Suns. Arnie Car dons Bucs bombed the last place Celtics 54 to 27. Sunderland hit for 33 points a high for any player this year. Larsen added 12 for the winners.
