Patriotic feeling ran high and the Independence Day observance was successful, from the early morning salute, to the evening events at the Veterans Ball park on West Main Street. According to Lehi Police Chief Berl Peterson, the event was accident - free. "There were no problems," he said. The grounds and the ballpark were fiUed with many cars on hand for the occasion. Thousands of people at- -t ended. Every available space, roadside, was taken, and many watched the fireworks from their home yards. A baseball game was a special feature at 6 p.m. with members of the Western Boys Baseball Association comoetiner. The Lehi High School band entertained the crowds in advance of nightfall when the pyrotechnic display began at about 9:30. Max Ray of the Lehi Fire Department, served as fireworks chairman, assisted by members of the department. The local police, assisted by the Lehi Auxil-iar- y Police, also received cooperation from the State Highway Patrol.
