PLAQUEClose Plaque Unveiled Utah County At Fairfield Club Youths Win An unveiling ceremony was held Saturday evening in Fairfield for the plaque memorializing Col. Philip St. George Cooke who was commander of the Mormon Battalion. Guest speaker at the event was Kenneth P. Rasmussen, Chairman of the National Trails and Landmarks Association. The plaque is fittingly placed near the site of Camp Floyd where Col. Cooke was stationed as one of Albert Sidney Johnston's officers, and where he commanded the post for a time after Johnston left. Col. Cooke was commander of the Mormon Battalion on most of the longest infantry march ever made by a unit of the U.S. Army. VISITS FROM FORT LEWIS, WASH. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Peterson and daugher Vea Lynn, had as their weekend guest, Pfc. Van E. Woods, who was enroute to his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Pfc. Woods has been stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where he re ceived training prior to a tour of duty in Viet Nam.
