Show Lady Riders Invited to Enter Lehi Roundup Queen Contest With the month of May now 50 percent; General Appearance, at the halfway mark, lady riders 20 percent, and Mount, 30 are reminded to keep in mind the which annual Lehi Queen-ode- o, will be held in advance of the big Lehi Roundup celebration, slated for the end of June. The annual celebration will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 27, 28, and 29, with world championship rodeo, top quality parades and events of interest to everyone. In preparation for the cele bration, which marks the birth day of the nation, July 4, and. the standard of Freedom, a Lehi Roundup Queen and two attend ants will be chosen. From the many fine equestriennes, from all parts of the state, skilled judges will select the one most worthy to represent the community on special tours and assignments, as well as ruling over the three- day western meet. DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED The exact date for the Queen- odeo will be announced a little later. In the meantime, lady rid' 16 years and over, are cordially invited to prepare for ers, age the celebration and the prelude the Queen contest. The Queen and her two attendants will be taken to television studios for special appearances in advance of the Lehi Roundup. They will also visit the Governor of the State, to extend an invitation to him to attend the Lehi show. A GIRL FOR RONALD AND TERESA ZUPAN LLOYD Armed Forces Day will be the Silver Star, posthumously, observed at Tooele Army Depot, for their son Thomas Jr. Sgt. Friday. May 17, 1968, with an Gonzales' gallant action result- Open House between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Open House will be packed with activities of all kinds as the depot vividly dem onstrates its support of the na tion's Armed Forces Day theme "Forces for Freedom." Tours of the depot's maintenance, storage, and data systems activities will begin at 10:30 and will run all day. Included in these conducted tours will be stop overs for the tank rides of the track and demdepot's half-mionstrations of the depot's complicated electronic computer record keeping facility. Static displays of depot equip ment, including a helicopter and weather van from Dugway Prov ing Ground, will be open all day, Beginning at 12:45 p.m. there will be an exciting fire fighting demonstration, followed by sham battle. The battle, which is being staged by soldiers of the 197th Ordnance Battalion, will be complete with tanks, foot soldiers with weapons, flame throwers, smoke screens and an attack on a fortified pill box. After the sham battle, the ac tivity will shift to the parade ground where the Navy ROTC Gold Rifle Drill Team will give a demonstration of their preci sion marching. The Rifle's will begin their drill at 1:45 p.m. drill Following the close-ord- er exhibition, Colonel William A, Porter, the depot's Commanding Officer, will present Certificate of Commendation to Mrs. Ena Gladden, a depot employee who is being recognized for her out standing contributions in support of the physically handicapped After Mrs. Gladden receives her certificate, the high cost of the Vietnam war will be brought into focus when Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Gonzales, Sr., of Mid-val- e, Utah, will be presented the Air Medal, the Bronze Star and le DELBERT G. ed in his death at Dai Dong, Vietnam, last December. The awarding of these high and coveted medals to Sgt. Gonzales' mother and father will also be attended by the hero's 12 brothers and sisters. Following the presentation of the medals, troops of the 960th COSTAR Light Maintenance (DS) (SRF II) Torrington, Wyoming, and the 50th General Hospital Ft. Lawton, Washington, will parade in review, accompanied by the Tooele High School marching band. The climax and final event of Armed Forces Day will take place at 2:30 p.m. when a team of five sky divers will thrill the spectators with their breathand parachute taking free-fa- ll target diving. d, It promises to be a educational and thrilling day with something to please the fancy of everyone. As might have been expected, Bob Worlton took two firsts, one in the discus at 164 feet 8 34 inches and the other in the shot put at 49 feet 3 12 Inches.
