JESSE GOOCH VISIT IN CALIFORNIA Normal t "M Rain and snow storms which occurred during the month of February in the Utah County area have slightly increased forecasts water supply. by the Soil Conservation Service indicate that all streams flowing into the east side of Utah Lake will yield near average amounts during er the period. Av erage for this forecast is based on measured quantities from 1948 to 1962. The forecast as of March 1, 1968 is based on the assumption that normal amounts of precipitation will fall during the remainder of the season. PINK LADIES It imPm Water Picture INSTALL-N- ew PINK LADIES Mrs. Glen (Connie) Nielsen Receives INSTALL New YWMIA Medallion Award Sunday NEW OFFICERS Mrs. Reed (Arlene) Newman, Pleasant Grove, was installed as president of the Pink Ladies Aux iliary of the American Fork Hos pital at installation ceremonies held last week at the Alpine Country Club. Presenting her with the pres ident's pin was out -- going presi dent Mrs. Ruth Curtis of Lehi. Mrs. Newman had served as secretary of the organization during the last year. Other officers installed were Mrs. Harold(Leah)Holley,Am Fork, vice president; Mrs. Dean (Fawn) Taylor, American Fork, secretary; Mrs. Fae Adamson, Alpine, treasurer; Mrs. Dan (Ma xine) Peterson, American Fork, gift shop and snack bar buyer; and Diane Larson, Amer lean Fork, reporter. Serving with Mrs. Curtis had been Mrs. Don (Jams) Bishop, Highland, vice president; Mrs, Newman, Mrs. Adamson, and Mrs. Peterson. Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Bishop were each presented with a love ly gift by the auxiliary members and officers for their service during the past year. A special guest at the instal latlon was Wayne R. McTague. administrator of the ' American Fork Hospital. Mr. McTague complimented the group on the service they give to the hospital and said their ultimate goal, as that of the hospital staff, is to work for the good of the patients. Some 28 Pink Ladies were in attendance at the installation luncheon. Mrs. Gene (Vivian) Barker, Director of Volunteers, assisted with luncheon arrangements. - Local Students Named to USU Honor Roll : Names of UtahState University students who achieved the honor roll for fall quarter of 1967 have been announced by Dr. Claude J. Burtenshaw, dean of students at USU. In order to be Included on the honor roll, a student must be enrolled full-tiand have a grade point average of 3.5 or better (4.0 is straight A). Earning recognition from Utah County were: American Fork -Jack Donald Barratt, Karen Lynn Eggett, Eric B. Adamson; Lehi -Neal Binns Evans, and Sandra Jane Evans. Roger R. Myers is Radio Operator In Viet Nam Army Private First Class Roger R. Myers, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Myers, of Milford, Utah, was assigned as a very high frequency radio operator in Company C. of the 4th Infantry Division's 124th Signal Battalion near Pleiku, Vietnam, Feb. 6. He is a close relative of the de StJeor family of Lehi. In recognition for the achieve- ment of seven "Individual Awards," Mrs. Glen (Connie Kirkham) Nielsen was awarded the new YWMIA medallion. The presentation was made by Bishop Leland G. Price of the Lehi Sixth Ward, in sacrament meet ing, Sunday night. This newly established award for church activity is called the It "Seven Year Medallion." Individual activity represents during seven years time. It is embellished with the YWMIA Insignia- the beehive for the Beehive Girl program; roses, rep resenting the Mia Maids, the laurel leaves, significant of the Laurels class,- - and the distinctive Gleaner sheaf. Cook Robert L Cook Wins Trophies For Army Achievements Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Cook received word of their son, Pvt. Robert L. Cook, as the winner of two outstanding trophies. Pvt. Cook is on six months active duty under the National Guard He graduated from program. basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas. He specialized In mechanics training In the Engineers Battalion. He took first place In physical training, in comparison with over 1000 men. He also received the trophy for outstanding trainee of his battalion, as well as a medal for marksmanship. He was recently transferred to Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Pvt. Dee Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Carter, is also stationed there at the present time. His parents and twin sisters, Carol and Carleen, will make the trip to Arizona to spend the weekend. Utah Lake inflow 275,000 ac. ft., 98 percent. ne Cedar Valley Riders To Hold Dance The Cedar Valley Riders of Cedar Fort will hold a dance on Friday, March 29, in the Cedar Fort Gym at 9:00 p.m. Music for the affair will be furnished by Don Petty and his band. The public is invited to attend. Annual spring range rides to survey range conditions on many of the deer wintering areas will soon get into full swing and are expected to attract the interest of many sportsmen in addition to personnel from the Division of Fish and Game, U. S. Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management. The Division of Fish and Game welcomes and encourages individuals or groups to join on the range surveys as this is the only way they can see for themselves the actual range conditions on the various deer winter ranges. Information gained on these tours, together with other data, will be considered by the Board of Big Game Control in setting this fall's deer hunts.
