Chairman Greenwood said the formal motion has not yet been passed, but that a discussion of the levy and budget recently by all three members of the commission resulted in a unanimous decision to retain the same levy as last year. Commissioners G. Marion Hinckley, Mel Halts, with Commission Chairman Greenwood reached the decision. The county commission has reduced the county levy of a mill for each of the last two years, from seven mills in 1963. But this year the commission felt it could hold the line, but make no reduction, because of loss of tax levy the county will suffer from the freeport law, Mr. Greenwood said. Because of the freeport law taking effect this year, the county has suffered about a $4 million drop in as sessed valuation which it other will wise would have had-wh- ich mean a loss of an estimated $340,000 in taxes. one-quar- ter MRS.
