A faculty committee, headed by Bill Fairbanks, and assisted by Mrs. Elaine Walker, Mrs. Ruth Peterson and James Gray, met with PTA officers and representatives of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary, to plan activities. These activities Include the Legion and Auxiliary sponsored essay contest with the theme, One Nation Under God. Winners will be announced at the school assembly and winning essays will be published. This contest is arranged for the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth grade students. There were 33 of these compositions selected and delivered to the Legion and Auxiliary committee. Fifteen of these, including five from each grade, were selected and have been sent to Brlgham Young University for the choosing of a top winner in each grade. Commander Dennis V. Finch of American Legion Post 19 of Lehl, will award medals to the top winners In each grade on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the school assembly. Parents are invited to attend and may check with the school as to the exact time it will be held. Kathleen Zimmerman, school program chairman, and Mr. James Gray of the faculty, will be in charge of the assembly arrangements. Bulletin boards will be placed in the halls on both floors, under the direction of Ruth Peterson. A window display showing some of the arts and crafts of the students will be arranged. To climzx the week, parents visiting day will be held Friday, Nov. 13. Schedules will be sent home with the students, indicating the time for the various name groups to visit.
