Love- ridge, Lehi's "Grand Old Man." Oldest resident of Lehi, he is a native pioneer and is widely known as a lifelong resident and long time farmer and poultry raiser here. Mr. Loveridge is an honorary member of the Sons of Liah Pioneers organization. His activities and memory go back to pioneer days in this area, and he sometimes recalls many of his early day experiences here. Inare cluded in these memories those of his building' operations. He is especially proud to have worked on the stake tabernacle, from the basement to the attic and roof, as he expresses it, and later on in repairs on roof ornamentations. His early day experiences include driving an ox team, herding sheep and farming and stock one of raising. He established the finest farms in this vicinity and also took a prominent part in poultry raising for many years. Cooperation in work with his neighbors and helping the poor and needy have characterized his long life. Until recent years, he drove a car and joined in com- - v - To Aid at The Lehi Fire Department was called out to control a small grass and sage brush fire near the Orson Godfrey farm, Monday, at 2:50 The fire was promptly p.m. brought under control and no ap preciable damage resulted. Last Thursday. August 8. the fire crew was called to assist at the scene of a burning auto. Max Ray's automobile, a 1959 Chevrolet, caught fire from a backfire through the motor, and the wiring was burnt off. Some $200 damages resulted, it was reported by Fire Chief Cloyed Penrod. l I C. He loved the soil and had a gift for gardening, continuing in this capacity until well into his "eighties." Vegetables and flowers were grown with equal success. When he decided to give up gardening, he planted fruit trees which now provide a useful crop each year. He continues to enjoy the visits of his family members, including young and old. Visits from such old friends as Walter Webb, also a nonegenarian, and Fred Peterson. Peter Hansen and Ralph Smith, long time neighbors, are welcomed at frequent intervals. Mr. Loveridge was born in Lehi. August 20, 1868, a son oj Alexander Hamilton and Malinda Stillwell Thomas Loveridge. He continues to make his home in the same block where he was born. He was married to Frances Dawson, in 1886. She died in 1888. He later married Anna Laura Goodwin, March 20, 1889. The mother of his three children, she died March 24, 1908. His daughters, all living in Lehi, include Mrs. E. N. (Annie) Webb, Mrs? Alberta Simpson, who makes her home with her father, and Mrs. Leon (Iris) Peet. A r, Mrs. Sigrid Olsen, is now living in Los Angeles, California. There are 13 grandchildren, 41 and 22 great-gregrandchildren included in the family circle. Mr. Loveridge and his family will observe the day quietly at home. j Explorer Meet Brent Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Jones, is leaving Monday to aid on the steering committee at the LDS International Explorer Conference at He Brigham Young University. will assist in the registration of the 3800 Explorer Scouts expected to attend the meet. He is one of 15 boys selected to serve on this committee. The conference will last a week, continuing until Aug. 28.
