STEELING in Accident Utah County sugar beet grow- ers will receive some $92,318 in sugar payments for the fiscal year 1963 which ends June 30, according to estimates of the department of Agriculture supplied to Senator Frank E. Moss. with $59,893 This compares paid in fiscal .1962. "Statewide, sugar payments for fiscal 1962 were the lowest of five years," Senator Moss said. "This decline was due to the drought in calendar year 1961." he said. Utah County figures for the five years are: 1959, $196,852; mm Treasury actually benefits. Senator Moss explained that the funds are paid from the Treasury, but that a special tax of per cent per pound on all sugar consumed ,in the U. S. returns more to the Treasury than the payments take out. Revenue this year will be about 98 mil lion and payments about 85 million. Foreign producers supply ab out half of the U. S. market. Growers receive payments for observing restrictions on production (of which there are none now in effect), and fair labor standards as defined by the Secretary of Agriculture. ic co- likes it. operations, staff assistance to suGudmundsen is master mechan- - pervisors and giving technical advice on equipment modification and purchasing.
