Show News About Folks You Know OFF TO CALIFORNIA Mrs. Jennie Nostrum left this week for a visit in California. She will divide her time with her dau ghter, Mrs. Elwin (Ileen) Beck, at Whittier, and her son. Glen Webb, at Los Angeles. Sunday visitors at her home here were her son, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nostrum and chil dren, Jolyn and Mont, of Bounti ful, who spent the day. NATURALISTS TOUR MOAB A business trip to the Moab area, Monticello and Mexican Hat, included Mr. and Mrs. John Hutch ings and friends from Salt Lake City. These included Federal Pro bation officer H. C Brandley, Mrs Brandley and Mrs. Ireta Ritter. They took side trips to Monument Valley, the Goosenecks of the San Juan and the natural bridges, doing some rock collecting. All are naturalists. VACATION IN CALIFORNIA Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Okey have just returned home after a month of vacationing in California. They were joined in Las Vegas, Nevada, by a daughter of Mrs. Okey, Mrs, Harold Gordon. They were guests at the home of a son, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Jacobsen, at Wil mington, and at the Burton Saris home in Garden Grove. They also visited with relatives in Long Beach. VISITS FROM WASHINGTON Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchings enjoyed receiving a first hand re port of the activities of their Col. and daughter and Mrs. J. Sterling Merrell, who live near Washington, D. C, where Col. Merrell is stationed. Bishop Lowe, originally of Orem, called at the Hutchings home and brought news of their family son-in-la- The Merrells are members of the new McLean Ward which is building a new chapel. VISIT IN NEW MEXICO Mrs. LaMar Hutchings and her children, Hayden and Joel, were accompanied by Jimmy Hutchings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hutchings, on a trip to New Mexico. They will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Quey Hebrew (Esther Hutchings) and son, Linke, at Farmington. They made the trip with Mrs. Hebrew, who returned home after a week here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchings. Jimmy will continue his schooling in Far mington. ALASKA FRIENDS VISIT HERE Mrs- - Ed Branson entertained at dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs Jack Hendricksen, long time friends at Juneau, Alaska. Now liv ing in Bountiful, where Mr. Hen dricksen is employed as a bus operator, the couple brought their children, Amy, Durkee, Jack and George. The family moved to Bountiful last fall and are buying a home there. Mrs. Branson joined in an enjoyable motor tour of Brigham Young University campus and other scenic points in the ' Provo area. JACK WILKINSONS HAVE NEW BABY DAUGHTER . Jack and Neola Gillman Wilkinson of Am. Fork, are the parents of a new baby daughter, born April 6. She weighed six pounds litounces. The dark-haire- d 12 tle miss has one brother, Boyd. Delighted grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Wilkinson of Fairfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Gillman of Pleasant Grove, while Mrs. Blanche Armstrong of Fairfield is the BROWN FAMILY VISITS FROM SEATTLE Mr. and Mrs. Alex Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Brown of Seattle, Wash., were conference visitors with family members here. House guests at the home of Mr. Brown's sister, Mrs. Ruby Taylor, they were, also joined by LeRoy Davis, Mrs. I. L. Lott of Salt Lake City, and. other family members. In Salt Lake City, the Browns visited with sisters of Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Sadie Kittinger, Mr. and Mrs. Joh Stoker and Mr. and Mrs. George Morris. HUTCHING S FAMILY TAKES TRIP TO NEW MEXICO The LaMar Hutchings family enjoyed a trip to Farmington, New Mexico, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Quey Hebrew (Es ther Hutchings) and son, Linke. Mrs. Hutchings and her sons, Joel and Hayden, spent ten days in the Southwest With them went Jim my Hutchings, son of Mr. and Mrs Harold Hutchings, who is remaining for a longer stay and is attend ing school there. Mr. Hutchings and children Lynette and Kyle, joined the others for the return trip. This included tours of the Aztec ruins, National Monuments in the area and many scenic points. They arrived home Monday even ing. Mr. Hebrew is employed m the Southwest as a geologist for the Shell Oil Co. PRIVATES CRAIG MILLER, ALLEN GRAY RETURN TO FORT ORD Pvt. Craig Miller and Pvt. Allen Gray left last Thursday, for their return to Fort Ord, Calif., after spending a two weeks furlough here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Miller and Mrs. Eva Gray. They completed their two months basic training at Fort Ord and have now been assigned to cooks and bakers school, under the National Guard training program. BABY GIRL ARRIVES FOR JULIAN AND DIANA BROWN MERCER A pretty dark-haire- d baby girl arrived April 8, for Julian and Diana Brown Mercer, now living in Springville. The little newcom er, born at Utah Valley Hospital, weighed 8 lbs. 2 ozs., at birth. First child of the Mercers, she is a granddaughter to Mrs. Charles (Geneve) Mercer of Lehi. Mrs. Ruth Brown of American Fork, and Dee Brown of Provo. Great grandparents include Mrs. Hyrum J. Evans of Plymouth, Calif., Mrs. Jeanette Brown of Provo, and Mrs. Grace Nuttall of American BISHOP BROWN OF ENGLAND VISITS FOX FAMILY HERE A first hand report on the activities of their son. Elder Brent Fox, was provided for Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fox, by Bishop Brown of Burnley, England. He came here to attend the general conference, was a dinner guest at the Fox home, Saturday, and left by plane for his return, Sunday. He was accompanied by friends from Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Larsen and sons, Glade, Jay and Earl. Bishop Brown has been associated with Elder Fox, currently serving in that district. He took many pictures of family scenes to show Elder Fox. He reported that he was highly impressed with the United States on this, his first visit here. GRANT ASH VISITS Dr. Grant Ash, who holds a po sition as a government scientific director in the chemical depart ment at Washington, D. C, visited here during the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ash. He came West on a government assignment at Dugway and other areas here. His wife and children Terry Kay, Allyn, Dayle and Ce zanne Laulani, remained at tne family 'home in Alexandria, Va.
