Wrist watches were presented to them, and a corsage was given to their Carlton Wilson Two Lehi Ladies Injured When Retires From Car Rams Parked Truck on Hi way Vocation School THE LEW FREE PRESS Mrs. Ora Peterson, Lehi beautician, and a friend, Mrs. Joseph (June) Stein, are convalescing at home after injuries suffered in a highway accident Tuesday night. Their car, driven by Mrs. Stein, crashed into a stalled beet truck, owned by Mahlon Peck. Mrs. Peterson suffered severe head cuts and bruises, while Mrs. Stein was badly bruised when struck by the steering wheel, with minor cuts from the flying glass. The collision occurred on the highway west of Lehi', where Mrs. Stein had gone to pick up Mrs. Peterson. They were enroute to American Fork, where they planned to go bowling. Mrs. Stein's view of the stalled truck was ob & " scured by passing traffic. The car, a 1956 Chevrolet sedan, was extensively damaged, the exact am" ount not as yet determined. The accident occurred at 6 p.m., Investigating officers Tuesday. were Trooper Willes Vincent of the Highway Patrol, and Deputy Dale Peters. The truck, owned by Mahlon Peck, and driven by Robert Allred, had Stalled on the highway. No flares or markers were apparent. Investigations were continuing, of ficers reported at press time. The two women were taken to the Lehi Hospital, where they re ceived treatment and were released to return home, by Dr. E. , ... CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT A JOINT RESOLUTION PRO POSING TO AMEND ARTI CLE VII OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF UTAH BY ADDING A NEW SECTION, NUMBERED SEC TION 24, GRANTING TEM PORARY EMERGENCY POWERS TO THE LEGISLA TURE IN THE EVENT OF WAR OR EMERGENCIES CAUSED BY WAR SUCH AS ENEMY NUCLEAR, ATOMIC, OR SIMILAR BOMBING ATTACKS. Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of Utah, of all members elected to each of the two houses voting in favor thereof: Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Utah by adding a new section thereto designated, bection 24, to read: Notwithstanding any general or special provisions of the Constitution the legislature, in order to insure continuity of state and local governmental operations in periods of emergency resulting from disasters caused by enemy attack, shall have the power and the immediate duty (1) to provide for prompt and temporary succession to the powers and duties of public offices, of whatever nature and whether filled by election or appointment, the incumbents of which may become unavailable for carrying on the powers and duties of such offices, and (2) two-thir- to adopt such other measure! as may be necessary and proper for insuring the continuity of governmental operations including, but not limited to the financing thereof. In the exercise of the powers hereby conferred the legislature shall in all respects conform to the requirements of this Constitution except to the extent that in the judgment of the Legislature so to do would be impracticable or would admit of undue delay. Section 2. The Secretary of State is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of the State of Utah at the next General Election in the manner provided by law. Section 3. This amendment shall take effect immediately on electors of this adoption by the 'v State. I, LAMONT F.
