Brooks Married in Manti Temple Bites An outstanding event of the summer season was the wedding of Miss Linda Bennett, daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Bennett and the late Clifford Bennett, and Paul Walter Brooks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brooks, of St George. The ceremony was performed in the Manti Temple, and they were accompanied by Mrs. Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. Alice Humphries, Mrs. DeVere Flygare, Mrs. John Carr, Bishop and Mrs. Teddy Parker, and Mr. and Mrs. Abel Ekins. A breakfast was enjoyed at the temple. A dinner was served for the family in the evening, with all the family present Reception In Sixth Ward A reception feted the newlyweds that same evening in the First- Sixth ward church. The bride chose for the occa sion a gown of chantilly lace and accordion pleated tulle, floor length over satin. The narrow col lar of lace was fastened to the fitted bodice by a yoke of tucked tulle. The sleeves were long and pointed with small buttons used in trimming. The veil of illusion floated from a crown of seed pearls. Gardenias and orchid carnations formed the bridal bouquet. Mrs. Parley Varney, sister of the bride, stood as matron of honor. Leona and Lida, Nellie and Ne-d- a, two sets of twins, sisters of the bridegroom and Mrs. Richard Bennett and Miss Cheri Bennett, sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids, with the latter as maid of honor. They wore sheath dresses of violet with white collar and violet trim. They carried nosegays of gardenias with white and pink carnations. Richard Bennett stood in the line for his late father. The little flower girls were Julie Hoggard and Kathy and Michille Anderson, nieces. Their dresses were orchid and white check, and they carried matching nosegays. Mrs. Bennett made her appearance in a dress of silver blue lace and taffeta and Mrs. Brooks wore a sheath of turquoise. Their flowers were gardenias and white ribbon. An uncle, Tony Brooks, performed the duties of best man. Ushers were Gene Bennett and Bobby Bennett, brothers of the bride, and of Parley Varney, a brother-in-lathe bride. The bride and groom stood before an arch of Huckleberry green with p;nk carnations and wedding bells. Other decorations were ferns. The tiered cake was topped with a temple with stairway and bride and groom. The individual serving tables had pink carnations in crystal bowls. Mr. and Mrs. Julius M. Hoggard were the host and hostess. Mrs. Cherri Bryant Phillips was at the guest book, and Mrs. Richard Bennett, Mrs. John Carr and Mrs. DeVere Flygare were in charge of the gifts. Greeting the guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Von Bennett, the bride's brother, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Godfrey, the bride's sister. For the program. Dean Prior served as master of ceremonies. Ray Brooks sang, "Penny a Kiss, Penny a Hug." Mrs. Harvard Hin-to-n played a violin solo, "Inter- mezzo.'' Lydia Brooks gave a reading, "April Love"; Julie Hoggard and Kaye Christiansen sang, "You Were Fated to be Mated." and "Wedding Bells." Lars Jenkins gave a talk on Linda's school days and Gregory Bennett, her brother, gave a piano solo. The wedding reception was catered by Alta Clark, with the following servers: Kathie Urry, Judy Ekins, Claudia Allison, Barbara Jean Schow, Cheree S. Lameraux, and Patricia Carson. The music was played by Pamela Fox. An open house was held in St. George at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Atkens. The affair was held in their garden. The bridal couple stood before an arch of double hearts. For her going away ensemble the new Mrs. Brooks chose a burnt orange cotton dress with gold accessories. After a short honeymoon trip to Bear Lake and Logan, the couple is now making their home in St George, and plan to attend the BYU this fall to finish their studies. Miss Burgess, the 1959 American Fork "Steel Day" queen, is a graduate of the American Fork High School and LDS Seminary. She was a member of the Pep club and color guard. She attended Brig-haYoung University during the past year and was a member of the "Cougarettes" group. Her prospective bridegroom is employed with the S perry Rand Co., in Salt Lake City. A graduate of the American Fork High school and LDS Seminary, he was prominent in football and wrestling. He also graduated from the Central Utah Vocational school.
