Rulon (June) Nicholes. for Troop V of Lehi and former member of the Utth wara Disnop-riwas awarded the high ranking Silver Beaver at the meeting nf the Utah National farKs coun cil in Spanish Fork, last Friday. The annual Scouters banquet was held in the stake house at Spanish Fork and attracted some 550 participants. The award was presented by W. W. Clyde, president of the council. The highest award in scouting, the Silver Beaver Is eiven for the oer- formance of distinguished service to boyhood. Mr. Woffinden served for several years as Troop committeeman and was stake superintendent of the MIA. A Sunday School teacher, he sings in the ward choir, was formerly in the stake choir and is in much demand for solo and quartet performance. He is employed as an electrician for the Utah Power & Light Co. He was formerly a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. His wife is the former Evelyn Peterson and they have five children. Mrs. Gary Jolley (Carma), Lehi; Neil, Lee, Elaine and Larry. Other Silver Beavers Other Silver Beavers in Lehi are President Frank W. Jones of the Stake Presidency; Robert Webb and B. H. Curtis. Among those attending the banquet besides Mr. and Mrs. Woffinden, were President and Mrs. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Glather, Mr. and Mrs E. J. Sly, Mr and Mrs. Eldred Fox, Mr. and Mrs Virgil Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chatfield. Mr Chatfield is stake scouting chairman. Alnine Soil Conservation District Observes Anniversary at Banquet The Alpine District of the Soil Conservation Service marked the 25th anniversary of the Soil Conservation Service at a banquet held last week at the House of Pizza in Pleasant Grove. The group included three who hold a record of 25 years of service, Roy Littlefield, Lester Holcomb and Gerald Hansen, who were hon ored by the district. Leo Harvey, chairman of the board of supervisors, served as banquet chairman. Mrs. Harvey prepared a decorated cake as a feature of the honorary gesture. Mr. Harvey, who is also president of the state association, was one of the featured speakers. Ralph Felkner of the Provo Soil Conservation Service, gave a short speech and Gerald Hansen also spoke briefly. A film on watersheds was shown. Mr. Hansen reported that he has served on a number of boards during the 25 years of his experience, but nowhere has he found the high type of cooperation obtained from the board here. He would like to urge the residents in the area to become acquainted with the program more fully and to keep in touch with the supervisors who are "really trying to do a good job." Nile Wadley of Pleasant Grove is vice chairman, with Paul Blackhurst of Pleasant Grove and John Swenson, Manila, board members. Hol-broo- District Science Fair to Open In Orem April 25 The Alpine School District elementary schools will soon present an outstanding display of children's work in the field of science. In these times when unusual emphasis is placed an science education, we feel that this Science Fair will be of great interest to educators on all levels and public alike. The exhibit will be open for viewing in the auditorium of the Westmore School, 1150 South Main, Orem, the week of April 25, Monday through Thursday during school hours. The trip to the islands was made aboard the Matsonia, from Los Angeles.
