"I don't think many of us really know how much our school, home town, and friends mean to us until we're so far from them. "In Lehi we had good, clean fun, wonderful teachers, and a (need I say?). After reading Lester's letters I'd like to relate the thoughts expressed by our former principal, D. R. Mitchell, from one of the yearbooks: "There will come to each student as the years go by when by the turning of these pages he lives again the outstanding events of the old high school days either joy or vain regret. May yours be the joy which comes from a knowledge of time profitably used in school work well done, of achievement toward a definite aim in life, of fine friends made and enjoyed at school and through life; and may there always abide in us, loyalty to the ideals of our good education if we took advantage of it. "I want to attend this Golden Jubilee, because it will give me the chance to see friends I haven't seen since 1945, and before that. It will be good to see some of the teachers we had, although, I'll bet a lot of them were glad to see us leave. We were what you would call a 'fun class of '45' I think we all enjoyed life so much, and I still get a 'kick' out of looking at our yearbook." A lot of hard work has gone into the preparation for this contest. This only goes to show what can be accomplished by any school where students realize that hard work and 6igh standards will bring great achievement to their school. More power to them! How fitting, then, to print an yearexcerpt from the 1914-1well-earn- ed 5 book: "The Lehi High has always been noted for her 'spirit' and has gradually built up an enviable reputation until she is now acknowledged in the county and in the state, as leading in true high school spirit. The fact is, we have only lived up to our motto, 'In Study or Sport We Win.' "At our basketball games we have always cheered loyally, royally, and well, and have shown the visitors how it is done. At any meet the most noticeable thing is the cheering of the Lehi aggregation. Lehi students are always there as a unit, boosting for 'Our Old High." Again we print letters from former students who appreciate the time spent here: Lester Russon, a professional dancer in New York City, regrets that he will be unable to attend, but he states: "I would like to tell you about my feelings toward the school that had so much to do with my development. I don't know if conditions of personality and attitude are the same today as they were when I attended, but Lehi was a rare school when I was a student there. I was born with a few choice talents, that were unusual talents (at that time). Because a number of my instructors bad above average insight and because my fellow students had superior home environment, my talents , agement toward the arts that made it possible for me to fake my desires more seriously and, in turn, work hard for the goal. There was Margaret Potter whose kindness could never be surpassed. She would be interested to know at this time I am working on a painting eight feet high and four feet wide on canvas and in oil, of a Balinese Dancer. Many other fellow students and teachers are on my mind who were of great help to me: if I were sure there was room I would love to elaborate. "Success H3 does not come easy THE PRINTER !
