Concerning employee training programs already under way, Mr. ed - well-defin- Latham added: "A well trained employee is the taxpayers' best friend in the ad ministration of tax laws. I want particularly to make sure during my administration that our fine training programs will assure adequate technical competence on the part of those who must finally determine the tax liabilities of the American public." Mr. Latham said he is a firm believer in the policy of keeping his fellow employees fully informed of IRS problems, actions, and programs. Accordingly he said, he will continue to impart this information every month through a personal letter from him to each demy a mm I Utah Symphony To Present Free Concert sJJJ VW a... Burton, district superintendent. In its regular meeting on Feb. 10 the board of education approved placing fire escapes on the Spencer School in Orem, the. Unn ion School at Vineyard, the Elementary School, the Pleasant Grove Jnnior High School, and the Harrington School in American Fork. These five schools have recently been inspected by the school district personnel and local fire departments. The photographs are taken by a company that specializes in making aerial maps. Then Kennecott engineers use the maps to decide which areas of the mine will be worked for the next six months. Before Kennecott employed this company, it took six months to complete a map, using traditional surveying methods. Now the map is finished in one month. This helps Kennecott plan mining operations more efficiently, and efficiency is essential to the successful production of copper. Economy is another essential in oroducing copper successfully. Costs must be kept down when ore contains only 16 pounds of copper to the ton. Sometimes economy is achieved by farming work out by contracting, as it's often called. The contractor is a specialist with the equipment and experience needed for specific work. He is able to do the job more economically than Kennecott can. Contracting helps Kennecott center its attention on its specialty the basic operations of mining, milling, smelting and refining copper. It helps Kennecott operate successfully. And one of the results of successful operations is economic benefits for the entire state of Utah. v- - - HOURS LEHI 8 a. m. to 6 p. m.
