Show THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1958 Fred Clark Adams, Former Lehi Man, Appointed Principal in California School Fred Clark Adams, 35, son of former Lehians, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred F. Adams of Ogden, has been named the. new principal of the Barton Elementary school in San Bernadino, Calif. Mr. Adams has served as administrative assistant at Barton and Eliot schools for the past two years. He is a graduate of the Lehi High school While in the Provo school, Mr. Adams participated actively in student government and campus affairs. He was summer quarter studentbody president and a member of the Blue Key, honorary service fraternity. He received his Master of Education degree from the BYU in 1952. The visitor will be remembered as the former Julia Lewis. A family dinner party was enjoyed. Tuesday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Lewis. Section 5. This ordinance shall be in force and effect upon the filing by the company with the city of an unconditional acceptance therof in writing, which shall be filed within thirty (30) days after the passage and approval of this ordinance. Within ten (10) days after the filing of said acceptance, the city, by letter addressed to the secretary of said company, at Denver, Colorado, shall acknowledge the receipt of said acceptance. LACK WALL conwires, cables, underground duits, manholes and other telephone fixtures necessary or proper for the maintenance and operation in said city of a telephone exchange and lines connected therewith; provided, however, that no poles or other fixtures shall be placed where the same will interfere with any gas lamp, electric light, water hydrant or water main or sewer main, and all such poles or other fixtures placed in any streets shall be placed at the outer edge of the sidewalk and inside the curb line, and those placed in alleys shall be located close to the line of the lot abut ting thereon and then in such manner as not to interfere with the usual travel on said streets and alleys. Section 2. The said company. at all times during the life of this franchise, shall be subject to all lawful exercise of the police power by the city and to such reasonable regulatioh thereunder as the city may, by resolution or ordinance, hereafter provide. It is expressly understood and agreed that the company shall save the city harmless from all loss sustained by the city on account of any suit, judgment, execution, claim or demand whatsoever, resulting from negligence on the part of the company in the construction or mainten ance of its telephone system in the city. The city shall notify the company's representative in said city within five (5) days after the presentation of any claim or demand, either by suit or otherwise, made against the city on account of any such negligence as aforesaid on the part of the company. Section 3. Any person or corporation desiring to move a building or other structure along, or to make any unusual use of the streets, alleys and public ways of the city which shall interfere with the poles, wires or other fixtures of said company or the city, shall first give notice to the said company or the city, as the case may be, and shall pay to the said company or the city, as the case may be, a sum sufficient to cover the expense and damage incident to the cutting, altering and moving of the wires or other fixtures of the said company or the said city and before a permit is given by the city therefor, the applicant shall present a receipt from the said company showing said pay- - Peterson. n uj pnCe or- ganizations. After his release he was recalled in the navy to serve as assistant chaplain, taking charge of the LDS services in the U. S. Naval Hospital at Oakland, Cahf.'Mr. Clark is also a scoutmaster and hold" a instmctor position for the Red Cross. Mr. Clark is presently servine on the San Bernadino Stake High Council, an honor which is a reflection of many years of LDS Church responsibilities. For the past four years, he was first counselor in the bishopric of the Fon-tan- a Ward of San Bernardino stake. Mr. Clark and his wife, Ella Lou are the parents of four children, Frank 7. Mrs. Merrill Thornton, Mrs. I. Richard Bone and Mrs. Ben Cooloy represented Lehi and the art group at the reception. Refreshments were served and artist Wesley Burnside, who also teaches at the BYU, gave highlights of his recent journey through Spain. France and Italy, where ho visit ed galleries and other points of artistic and historic interest. The exhibit which will run until Nov. 1, was arranged by the Provo Art board", headed by Warren Wilson, president. Art'sts who have work displayed at the exhibit are Einel Anderson, Dorothy Bone, Floyd Breinholt, Wesley Burnside, Josephine Clark. Jr , Art Haven Attend Art Reception In Provo S NO. 1958 BY THE BE IT ORDAINED CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LEHI, STATE OF UTAH: in 1940. The Alfred F. Adams family are well known in Lehi, Mrs. Adams being the former Sarah Ellen Brown, a daughter of Byron Wcl-ma- n and Josephine Clark Brown. Mr. Adams, Sr., is a native of American Fork. Their family consists of five boys and three daughters, six of whom' are university graduates, holding masters' degrees. One daughter, Mrs. H. Grant Kunzler now resides in Lehi, Mr. Kunzler being a member of the Jordan High School faculty, in Salt Lake County. While living in Lehi, Fred Clark Adams was superintendent of the Sunday School in the Seventh Ward and received his bachelor of Arts degree at the BYU in 1949 after attending Weber College and graduating in 1947.
