In observance of Utah State Poetry Day, October 16, the Tree Press has alloted space for contributions from local poets. Note Chairman Dorothy Bone regrets not being able to contact more people, as there are a number of capable poets in Lent, but the notification came late and the time was limited. Mrs. Bone would appreciate hearing from all persons who write poetry or who have an Interest in it so that there will be a better showing In the future. The Utah State Poetry Society is seeking new members and offers a chance for poets to be more active in their art. FIREBUG MEDICINE BOW Today, oh, grim and stark old mountain peak, You brood above a scene of awful death; Heart turned to stone and granite face gone bleak, You cringe before your own wind- driven breath; The snow it spawned now lying still and deep, Is salf upon the raw wound of your pain And your regret, but . . . mountains cannot weep, No voice cries pity from your wild That Autumn's a firebug! Miss Evans, a graduate of Dar- rell' and Joseph's beautician school in Salt Lake City, is employed at the Claire C. Tuttle shop in Provo. While in high school she was president of the pep club and chorister for the FHA. She graduated from the LDS Seminary and is teaching in Sunday School. Mr. Gordon, who served as reporter for the FFA group, made an outstanding record in shop work.
