Show LEHI FBEE PRESS, LETTI, CTAH foe Shelton Selected to Attend Conservation Camp in Logan Canyo n Joe Shelton, son of Mrs. Leona Schow, has been selected to attend the Second Annual Utah Conservation Camp, July 31 to August 6, at the Forestry Summer Camp in Logan Canyon. Purpose of the camp is to give tomorrow's agricultural, civic and political leaders basic training in the principals of natural resource conservation. Joe was selected from several local applicants to attend as a delegate sponsored by the Lehi Wildlife Association. Enrollment V x. Hebertson Fctihily Leaves For Newfoundland Lt. W. L. 2, of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace LUNCHEON HONORS MASSACHUSETTS VISITOR AT FERKOVICH HOME Mrs. William Weitzel of West Springfield, Massachusetts, was a luncheon guest at the home of Mrs. A. J. Ferkovich, last Thursday. Mrs. Weitzel will be remembered as the former Berniece Bradshaw. With her came her children, Martha, June and David, on their first trip to Utah. They are spending the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard former Bradshaw, well known Lehi residents, now living in Salt Lake City. Mr. Weitzel will rejoin his family for the return trip home in August. BIRTHDAY PARTY FETES TEXAS VISITORS A delightful family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Carlson, Friday evening, June 10. The affair marked the birthday of Mrs. Kenneth Pender, the former June Carlson, who with her husband and son, Stephen, are visiting from Houston, Texas. A potluck dinner and visiting were enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Merle Gillespie, Grem; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Onley, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Colledge and Carl Carlson, their father, all of Pleasant Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Shelley and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Johnson, Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carlson and daughter, Linda Ann, American Fork, and Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Carlson, daughter Marilyn, and the honored gnests. GENE STRICKLANDS HAVE NEW BABY DAUGHTER Gene and Glenda Chilton Strickland of Ophir, are the proud parents of a baby girl, born June 14, weight' 6 lbs. 8 ozs. First child of the Stricklands, the baby is a grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Glen to Chilton and a Mrs. Sadie Chilton. The baby was born at the Lehi hospital. Russon Takes Training In South Carolina 4 Father's MRS. VERA MILES VISITS -- Lt. W. L. Hebertson and his wife, the former Carole Sorenson, left this week for Newfoundland, where he is stationed at Pepperell Air Force Base. They will motor to Nova Scotia. With them went their. young children, Scott, and Niel, 10 months old. Lt. been who has Hebertson, stationed at Pepperell since early May, is serving as bacteriologist at the base hospital. He is a son Lt. VeNile Lt. VeNile Russon spent a week at Shaw Air Force Base at Sumter. South Carolina, at officers training school. He has been stationed at the Hill Field base -- during the past year. His wife and baby son, Tony, remained here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Jones. - yJ ' FROM HERLOXG. CALIFORNIA Mrs. Vera Miles of Herlong, California, and her son, Jimmy Miles of Fresno, visited here with family members and attended the funeral of Mrs. Miles' mother, Mrs. Mary Colledge. The Forestry Summer Camp is located 22 miles east of Logan. In addition to living quarters, this SPORT ment. The camp program will include technical training in such topics as range management, range seed ing and watershed, wildlife man agement, range seeding and watershed, wildlife management, forest management (including fire con trol, forest measurements, tree identification, etc.), as well as games and daily handicrafts, campfire programs. On August 4 the group will make a seven-mil- e overnight trip to White Pine Lake located in the primative country, and on August 5 the party will hike to Mt. Naomi, highest peak in Cache County, and will participate in such contests as log sawing, log chopping, big fish, and plant identification. Joe has shown an active interest in wildlife and conservation affairs. He served for a year as secretary of the Lehi Junior Wild life Association, and during the school year just completed was president of the Biology Club at Lehi High School.
