Mrs. Kris Christensen of Pleasant Grove, state Mrs. Melvin Fillmore of Provo, state judging chairman, and Mrs. Sadie Chandior of Pleasant Grove, former' regional director, served as judges. Arthur Godfrey Dahlia Wins Top Prize K. W. Clark of American Fork, widely known as a dahlia fancier, received the "Queen of the Show" ribbon and cup for his giant sized specimen of "Arthur Godfrey" dahlia. The dahlia section was particularly large and with many choice entries, including some from the garden of former prize winners, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth - VVelcker. In the Junior Division, three were sweepstakes presented, Gloria Morton, Linda Ferman and Nancy Monson representing the three age groups. Mrs. Rose Barnes won a blue ribbon for her arrangment depicting the show theme. Sh? used s endive and fresh garden in a most attractive Mrs. Margaret McMillan also won a blue ribbon for her arrangement of flowers end fruit depicting the theme, as did Mrs. Edith Monson, a lovely study m petunias with ripe raspberries. Choice entries were placed by the Lions, Junior Chamber of Com-ncrcJaycettes, Athenian, Auc-tuLiahonian and Serimpian "?lubs and an exhibit from the Lehi Garden Club. The singing Stitchers Club, directed by Klea Ernst, also placed a fine exhibit. ' Division Sweepstakes Awards Sweepstakes awards were presented two to a division, rated on the number' of first place ribbons taken by the entrant. In Division I, Horticultural, Mrs. Lillie Jensen of American Fork, and Kenneth Gray, 16, of Lehi, were sweepstakes winners. Each won five blue ribbons. Mrs. Jensen's "Peace" rose and Mr. Gray.'s gladioli specimen were runners-u- p for the "Queen of the Show" award. Kenneth Gray also won sweepstakes in the Artistic Arrangement Division, with Mrs. Vie Ostergaard of Lindon, the other winner in Division II. vege-'able- s e, s, 4-- Educationa' Exhibits displays placed by Mrs. Roy L. Ferman and Mrs. Mable Jones were rated as blue ribbon winners by the judges. Mrs. Ferman exhibited some 20 different kinds of chrysantheums grown in her garden. Mrs. Jones of displayed some 14 varieties choice garden flowers. An educational chart of "hardening" and preparation of flowers for lasting beauty and freshness was placed by the show chairman.
